The only good option I can think of is replacing the whole center console with the screen to an after market tesla style.. And replace the whole birdsview camera system to also an aftermarket HD one.. Should cost me around a $1200..i guess it's worth it.One thing I would also look into is the actual screen itself!!! even if you update the camera's, I'm not sure the screen is crisp or high definition enough to display it!!!
The other bad thing is that the screen is tied to the climate controlso you cannot just replace it. I hate that.
Let me know if you find a way to fix this.
To be honest I paid big bucks for this car and I'm really disappointed and fed up with the outdated tech used in this car.. I'm ready to try any aftermarket options which I'm sure couldn't be any worse.. That said I love the engine and the way the car handlesI have looked into it. 2 things worry me:
1 - Those new systems are laggy and very buggy and the startup time on it could be a minute or even longer on a cold start.
2 - reliability could be an issue with these systems.
Also make sure the system you choose can support the 360 around view. The systems I looked at didnt even support it which beats the entire purpose of your project
Honestly, the factory system is dated but its reliable and its very fast and responsive. It usually takes like 5 seconds for the system to boot from a cold start and thats the only reason I have decided to keep the factory system.
But this would be a great project and might even be worth it. I guess you can always revert back to the factory system if it doesnt work to your satisfaction.
