I am thinking of getting a sunroof defector.

Do you guys think it would look good?

Will it cause any decrease in MPG?

Hard to wash car?

OEM vs after market? (not stick on :))

I read a thread from the org on this and I still on the fence.

My dealer included the OEM sunroof deflector with the car and overall i am very satisfied with it.

Looks wise.. i have a dark color car (notice you do also) so it blends in pretty easily. I did not even notice that i had a sunroof deflector until maybe one month after the purchase.

I doubt it will cause much, if any, decrease in MPG. I average ~15-16mpg NYC suburbia driving with a semi heavy foot. That is what others in my area are also averaging in their fx so nothing out of the ordinary.

Washing car... If you are extremely anal about getting every single spot then its going to be semi annoying to wash in between the deflector and the sunroof. That is my only complaint. I have to wash that part by going into my car, cracking the sunroof open a little and wiping the glass with a cloth in my hand. I rarely do this unless it is very dirty.

To me the OEM looks the most sleek. Unless there is a huge price difference between aftermarket and oem i say go oem

other comments - the sunroof deflector is awesome when you want to crack open the sunroof a little bit but do not want massive wind noise inside the cabin. This is the first sunroof deflector i have ever had on a car... and after this experience will most likely install it in my future cars

It's a nay for me, but you do have a black FX and will not be that noticeable.
 
I love Docs FX (same color as mine) and all of his mods but I say nay on the wind deflector. I just don't like the look and don't see a huge need. If you want just a little air and low noise, press the tilt button.
 
Nay on the deflector. IMO, the FX looks better without it. When we bought our Armada last year, it had an OEM deflector on it. I asked one of the mechanics for a tool to remove it and got a $100 credit for it from their service department.
 
I did the wind deflector a couple weeks ago - went to WeatherTec (looks just like the OEM to me). I think it totally depends on your car and the colors. I think it looks good on mine. My other observations are in line with the other guys on here. Not terrible, but not easy to clean under it and in all the corners. I do like the way it attaches - with two metal clips that grab the frame of the roof. Removing it will leave zero marks. As for wind noise - I was a bit dissapointed. Not sure if it helped at all. Might have changed the "tone" of the wind noise. And I have not noticed any decrease in MPG.

Not sure about other roads in the country - but Texas highways absolutely blow because of small rocks and debris. I have no less than 7 windshield cracks (all repaired) and a couple of chips. BOTH fog lights were shattered over a few months, so I now cover the glass with a shield.

As for the bug deflector - I can't say that I like the look - but it most definitely does it's job with small rocks and bugs. You can still get hit if the rock/bug is big enough, but most of the time I can actually watch the debris get caught in the airstream and go right over the the top of the car. It's the same reason I got the clear bra - before the deflector I was actually getting rock paint chips on my hood. Now it's all good though.
 
My front end looks fine. Last two cars I drove had over 200,000 total miles and they only had 1-2 cracks in the windshield each. I think one had a crack in a light and the bowtie badge of my Tahoe had a crack. They both had seen plenty of highway miles.
 
Well I guess I need to change that to, "Houston roads blow". Even my clear bra is obviously chewed up on the front bumper in a couple places.
 
i really like mine.......... actually i think the FX looks weird without it, but, i see one every day.
 
I also like my wind deflector. I normally don't use sunroof because of the wind noise. But after my wind deflector, I finally use my sunroof. LOL
 
I took off my oem wind deflector for one reason, it partially blocks the view when you look up.
It is not much (maybe 1"-2") but I like to get every bit of sun when it's open and I ALWAYS have it open. It's definatly louder without it so I end up cranking the volume up. What I need to do is trim it down and reinstall it or just sell it
 
It's too bad there wasn't something that was low profiled to cut down on the sound only.
