i'm in the process of replacing the drain plug for the sunroof but...i managed to pop out the old drain from the engine bay and well, i have no idea how to get the new one on now. i don't know how to remove the vent like iv seen others do (they never show how they remove it) but mine being a newer version (2011), it doesnt look like it removes the same way. theres a white plastic harness thing that if i was able to remove i could prob fit my hand under the glove box area (glove box is currently removed) but that piece after remmoving a single screw, doesn't budge and i assume its still clipped on somehow but i have no idea how

I see screws underneath that look like they are holding the vent piece in place so it doesn't look like it's going to just pop out

well, somehow i managed to install the new one without removing the vent. I don't think mine is removable without taking the dash off anyway.

Unfortunately I didn't since I ended up doing it in the dark so I could see the flashlight better. Though after a long rain storm the other day, the carpet underlayment was damp so looks like I'll either have to jam a straw in the opening or use to rtv on the open slits on either side of the drain. I didn't put everything back together yet so if I remember, I can try to take a few more pictures

Hey, I have experience in this coming from my previous vehicle. I was also able to do this without removing the dash or vent although in hindsight I dont know how I was able to do it as everything in there is a tight squeeze. I originally got away with just breaking off the end tip of it in the middle that gets clogged. Unfortunately during my last rain storm I did see a puddle on the floor so I dont believe that it worked. On my other vehicle I did get a bigger piece of tubing fit it over the existing tube and then had it exit further into the engine bay aimed towards the floor. Others have rerouted it to the passenger floor drain etc so whatever you do theres multiple options. I am pissed that since I had my dash out I could have done this but I completely forgot. Theres a drain on both sides driver and passenger but Iv only every seen the passenger side give problems. I also see that there is a updated filter drain plug from infiniti you could try it is

I have an update, so the first time was an iffy result. I saw the foam seal thingy moved around when i put the drain plug on sooooo i had to take it out for a second time.

Overall the 2nd time around went pretty quick.
i popped it out from the engine bay after removing the plasic shrouds n stuff
i then used a thin layer of rubber cement on the mating surface where the foam seals sits and let it sit for like 20 minutes so it wouldn't move when it got close to the floor carpet
I did previously cut off the center nub but didn't have the right size straw to jam in there so i used a small bit of rtv on a long flat head screw driver and did my best to block the lower slits on both sides
Taking the hose off once the plug was removed i carefully twisted and pulled on the hose once the plug was wedged

Ok so putting it back in.... all i needed was a long thin flat head screwdriver and a pair of those super long needle nose. i did have to remove this black box thing that i forget what it is. Its just 1 screw holding the bracket on. There was no way to get to the hose otherwise

I then pulled the hose back just far enough so i could see the end of it through the opening (hopefully the picture is ok) Then used the long screwdriver to push through the end of it then just pushed the hose onto it from the pillar and it just guided the hose down through the opening so i could pretty easily push on the plug onto the hose. You might need to use the needle nose to help assist the hose onto the nipple. Also one thing you do have to pay attention here is making sure you have the plug facing up in accordance to where the slight hose bend is. If you don't do that then it will veeeery difficult to even get it close to the hole trying to push it back in and or it just won't be oriented properly. so if the bend is bending upwards, then you want the plug to also be facing upwards. it was a bit tricky to notice where the bend was going at first (i also did it at 930 pm the first time)

Once you get it on, you can carefully push it up through and it will be pretty easy to guide it over to the firewall hole. Once you get it positioned, just try and use the screw drive to try prying the carpet outside of it if possible. I didn't do that the first time and thats most likely what lead the seal to shift on me. from there it will push in easily using the screw driver, you can also check from the engine side to make sure its oriented fairly well. You can rotate it a little bit from the engine side afterwards using the needle nose
