Strange grinding/scraping sound while braking

I just noticed last night that my FX is making this terrible grinding sound while I drive. I can hear it clearly when I drive by a wall and it sounds worst when I'm braking. There is no steering wheel vibration or any other symptoms (yet) but the sound is terrible. It's almost like a metallic whining sound when I am cruising, then when I brake, the whining sound turns into a metallic "sh-sh-sh-sh-sh" sound.

Any clue if this is the brakes or a wheel bearing? I can't tell 100% where the sound is coming from but it sounds like the rear wheels. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check your brake pads there is a tell tale that makes contact with the rotor when pads are worn to point they need replacement.Sounds like this may be your issue.

Okay. It sounds like I should check my brakes! Thanks guys!

I uploaded a video more for the sound. It sounds pretty awful. Does it really sound like a low brake pad warning? The sound at :13 is when I am braking gradually.

Sounds like brakes. I would start with checking the pads, rotors might need machining or replacement as well.

I can hear the sh sh sh noise you are refering to before the brakes are applied at :13. Have you check your dust shields and make sure they are not touching the rotors?

Sounds like dust shiled touching

Or it maybe the calipers not opening back up wide enough

Somewhat stuck calipers ?

Good luck i hopes its not too serious

I just took mine in to get it serviced. I did notice there was a grinding sound coming from the front driver wheel well. I notified them cause the brakes look solid still. They said it was a bad bearing and they took care if it for no charge. So if it ain't your brakes then it might be your bearings.

Yeah, I got the same noise before, my dealer told me the same thing that the brakes were fine, noise disappeared 5 days later. When Andy got my brakes changed recently, here how my rear brake pad looked like:

 That's the worst brake pad that I've ever seen. The wear indicator tab on the pad is made out soft metal that it got worn out quickly that it no longer touches the rotor and the noise disappears in a few days!

Hmmmm. My brakes have stopped making the noise and the vdc/slip lights came on the other day. Looks like I can't milk my brakes much longer.
