Hi all!!

Im going to be deploying to the big sand box in about a month. What are some good things to do with my Fx35 when I put in storage for about a year? Jacks no jacks? fluid, battery, things like that. Its going to be stored inside a storage unit not outside. Being in El Paso the air is so dry i don't haft to worry to much about rust or water vapor.

Thanks for the help.

ideal would be to jack it up but support it under the suspension control arms themselves enough to leave a bit of suspension compression. this will make no flat spots on the tires & no shock/strut damage by leaving them fully extened like if you just jacked it up & left the wheels fully hanging on the stops of the shocks/struts...

other than that, if you had someone who could just take it out for a drive like once a month then you wouldn't have to even bother with any of that... but if you do jack it up, don't have someone just start it up for a few minutes periodically as that can do more harm than good by building up condensation in the oil & distributing it throughout... if it's going to be started periodically it should be allowed to fully warm up & run for a good while each time...

a trickle charger can also be benificial unless you don't mind just buying a new battery when you return, & oh yeah, even more importantly than just the hunk of metal we call the fx, best wishes for a safe return:smile:

Thanks for the help guys!

I'm Going to leave it with my grandparents in Parker AZ so they can look after it. They have a garage and my uncle lives down the block. So it can get some TLC while I'm gone. But I'm still going to get a cover for it, take off my wheels/ tires and put on the factory ones.

AZ is good.

the AZ environment will take care of alot of the normal issues (one of the reasons everyone parks planes out there). if you can get it run about once every other week, you should have no problems. once a month would probably mean the battery will be weak or dead, a battery minder would be good. i would recommend changing out the oil before you go, just to make sure you have an full add pack in the oil. i would recommend the car cover.

thanks for your service, and be careful out there.

good luck in the sand box  hope you come back safely!

when you store your car, you might wanna invest in a trunk monkey :tongue:
