Stoptech v. EBC Rotors ???

Hi all,

I have hunted the web and it basically breaks down to the simple fact that $315.xx will get me a full set of either the Stoptech Powerslot series rotors (126.42080SR/L & 126.42078SR/L) OR the EBC USR series rotors (USR7218 & USR7219).

It's crazy that both setups came within pennies of each other after tax and shipping for all.

I am pretty sure I am going to run Akebono ACT969 & ACT905 pads after everything I have read up on pads on here. EBC Greenstuff are just a little too expensive and Hawks seem to have mixed reviews. I haven't seen any negative feedback on Akebono and they are not too expensive so they are the winner.

All feed back and opinions are greatly appreciated.

I run Powerslots on my STI and have yet to warp them. I've repeatedly mashed on them at the track with street and aggressive street pads (HPS and HP Plus).

i would choose Stoptech over EBC . Never used EBC rotors before but a friend of mine did and hated it. the rotors only lasted him for 20k miles. BTW for pads i love using Project MU their probably one of the best pads out in the market but it is also a little bit pricey but you pay for what you get

I've got stoptech crossed rotors on my FX and I love them. They look nice and have very good bite and stopping power.

Whoa, another Bay Area FX'er. Nice to see there are a few on here. I see tons of FX's on the road, but hardly any in the forums.

What pads did you go with?

I am currently running Centric Posi Quiet Ceramic Pads and so far I am pretty happy with them. Pretty good stopping power, quiet and very minimal brake dust.

I run on Stoptech slotted and drilled with Akebono ProAct Ceramic pads. Good combination IMO. I had 38k miles on my Stoptech rotors, no signs of warping or any cracks at all. Stoptech pads are lousy. The first and the only time I used Stoptech pads last me only about 18k miles.

This project keeps growing.

First new front struts and bearings. Then rear shocks. Might as well do the springs too. Should swap the stabilizer links and bushings out while that's already apart. Well what's 8 more bolts? Let's swap the rotors and pads just because.

Am I missing anything? I am planning to finish doing all of this over one weekend by myself.

I was thinking about new ss brake lines but I'm a little nervous about the bleeding. I've never done it before and a little worried about messing something up and not having breaks.

Side question... Do the rear caliper pistons screw into the caliper housing, rather than just the normal straight press in? I saw a video of a guy doing rear breaks on a G20 I think and said that Nissan/Infiniti do that a lot.
