New pads under 300 miles on new centric ctek rotors. BEDDED properly. Not happy with both setup. Ill make another thread for the rotors. My current setup:
Front: Under 300 miles New centric Ctek Rotors and new Stoptech Pads
Rear: Over 4k miles Oem rotors and oe semi metallic pads

Front Stoptech pad price $55-65.00 Part# 309.09691
Pros: Cold initial bite, low noise, doesn't need to get heat up to get a good bite, luxury pedal feel, overall bite is better than stock semi-metallic pads. Easy on the rotors.

Cons: Brake fade after spirited driving, has a sponge feel to it, bite performance decreases after getting hot, poor braking power when coming to a sudden stop

Conclusion: Wont buy these pads ever again (unless after certain number miles it breaks in and performs better). Compared to Hawk HPS its somewhat a downgrade, especially emergency situations. For instance today i was going normal speeds when someone cut me off 15 feet away, i hit the brakes hard and it didnt bite the way hawk hps did. It kept on dragging the car then finally grabbed (came close to crashing). More of luXury feel than a sport feel.:bad:
I Definitely feel the difference between my old hawk pads that bit better when coming to a complete stand still or sudden emergency stop. You get what you pay for

I have never tried these...but i have been running Hawks HPS for the past 3 yrs and they do have great bite and good stopping power. Much better than oem...my only issue is they give off a lot of brake dust. Thx for the advice tho...won't buy these.

Thanks for the review, about time for me to get new pads/rotors I think and I was thinking about the Stoptech pads. I know your feeling after lots of sudden stops on the Interstate recently and not feeling very confident. At least I never got as bad as the guy behind me in the pickup who was getting all squirely behind me under sudden braking. But yeah not too long ago I had to brake without downshifting first and it was scary relying on just the brakes.

I used Stoptech pads once. Did not last me long and also noted that brake fade. Before it was even worn, I took it off and replace it with Akebono ProAct ceramics.

after couple thousand mile review. Brakes needed to be rebedded because of this annoying squeak that started. After rebbeding i do get noises from the pads especially when their warm. Brake performance sucks and almost crashed today when someone cut me off. I hit the brakes hard and the car kept going another 10 feet at 25mph. Miss my hawks

Get rid of that StopTech pads. IMO, they are garbage. StopTech rotors (Centric) can work well with better pads. I've always used Akebono ProAct ceramics since I dumped my StopTech pads with no issues.

how is the stopping power of Ake pro acts? seriously thinking of swapping them

+1 on Stoptech pads dragging. I just did a complete brake change all the way around. New Stoptech pads and rotors, they have a good initial bite consistently but they drag like crazy when they heat up. I drive spirited every where I go and I notice the brake fade almost every time I jump on the highway. Good to know I'm not not the only one who feels this way. I thought maybe I was was been to hard on judging them since this is the first time I swapped out pads and rotors for non OEM stuff.

Question. I'm thinking about swapping out my OEM pads and rotors now and want to use the akebono proact ceramics but what rotors should I combine with them?

Or would you recommend going a different route for pads/rotors?

Im using the same pads on my FX45 now, and completely agree with this review. I was hoping for a much longer life than factory pads, but have a feeling theyre going to be on par with same life. I hate the sponge feel when they get hot!

Does Project MU make an option for the stock size?
I really like them & good blend of performance to squeal (which is none)

I don't have experience with Stoptech so can't comment but since we're on the topic of brakes... I've used stock, Akebono, EBC and now... and my new favorite by far... are the Hawk Performance Ceramic.

I'm running DBA 4000 front rotors and 4000 rear rotors are on the way (had to be custom made for the FX50s due to sizing issue in original mfg process (slotted/drilled) and it's a WORLD of difference compared to stock. No more warping, smooth solid stopping every time.

I'll report back once I get the rear DBA rotors installed and test them all as a set.
