In the market for new front pads and rotors.
Which pad is better?
What im looking for:
-Overall better stopping power compared to stock
-Good initial bite
- Low Noise
I dont care if it dusts.

Also which is the correct part number for front stoptech street pads
309.09691(this one seems to be cheaper) or 309.09690?

Don't leave out porterfield R4-S's. I have a set going on next. I read they're pretty good street perf. Pad

I have the Powertech slotted and drilled sports rotors and Akebono ProAct ceramic pads combo. So far I like it better than stock. I just hate the squeeks of stock brakes. I have had a few couple of near collision incidents when the vehicle in front of me made a sudden stop, so far, my brakes never failed me.

i wish i knew about this a year ago, i spent my money on stupid hawks instead..

Hawks arnt bad really. They wear pretty good and are reliable, but under heavy use at track I warped my rotors a bit. Will be changing out soon with new ones & the Porters.
Still up in the ar re. blanks, drilled, slotted ????
Any suggestions guys?

i want to get porters but there pricey especially with rotors too

Bumping this up.

I currently have ST Street Pads (308s) with ST premium/drilled rotors and the OE Akebono calipers. Everything works well, but the pads squeal like a b*tch when everything is cold in the morning. The noise goes away after a single stop, and a single swipe of the rotor makes everything quiet (long before they get any heat into them). I've tried re-bedding them but the noise persists. I am thinking about Centric posi-quiet or Akebono ceramics unless I can get these STs to quiet down. Any tips or other experiences?

You can skip pass the Akebono ProAct Ceramic pads. My Akebono ProAct Ceramic pads with Akebono calipers also squeal crazy loud when back out of garage in the morning. The squeal goes away afterward too. The same pad used on other calipers (other cars) without any squeal at all.

I've been very happy with my Project Mu HC800+ pads. They take a beating & never melt on me. Occasional noise, but once I get some temp in them, they usually clean off pretty well & are quiet again.

Well damn. The ST pads are otherwise good - feel, torque, consistency, etc. It's just the noise when backing out of a parking spot. I wonder why they'd be loud on this car but quiet on another car. The OE brakes were silent.

Was just about to order some ProACT pads based on another thread but a last minute search reminded me of this thread. And now I'm really worried the pad change won't do anything for my noises. Is there really no way to make the factory Akebono sport brakes silent !?
