Stolen Center Caps

I just got an email from building management where I work warning us of a gang stealing hubcaps and center caps. Apparently they've hit up the parking deck 4-5 times over the last few months. They wait for security to pass and then steal a few before taking off. The security truck has followed them, but they got away. They've also been hitting up all the nearby office buildings doing the same thing. This is so weird, I can't imagine they'd make that much money off of these.
 
Ok what are they doing with them? Has anyone seen a big increase of centercaps on ebay? Clist? I understand they are soo easy to steal, but where are they? Conspiracy from dealerships to make money off of you and sell used "new" centercaps?

I like the idea of somehow marking them, maybe with an IS, so when you buy off the black market, you know they came off a members car.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to use sort of dremmel tool to engrave the caps with your initials, some sort of numbers etc etc, or even paint the back with some crazy bright color that would be a b!tch to remove. Anything to make their "work" harder is worth it.
 
I got the new center caps from the dealer but have now taken them all off and just keeping them to put on at a later time. It seems they hit up everyone in my neighborhood too. Every Infiniti is missing a couple if not all the center caps.
 
Haven't noticed an issue here....yet. But again I doubt anyone would be intersected in my Previa's hubcaps
 
i have seen only one fx without center caps in LA, hopefully its stays that way or else...
 
Damn it they got me last night too! SOB stole all 4. You would think they wouldnt be interested in an 03 stock cap but I guess they are. Just cant seem to bring myself to go out and buy used (most likely stolen) caps for $35-$45 each! BUT at the same time it looks like crap without the caps! Im soo fn pissed right now!!!!
 
I got my center caps stolen off my car too at a parking garage in Chicago. Very frustrating, but I was determined to not let it happen again. I purchased The Caploc at Hub Cap City in Riverdale, IL. They also installed it for me too! They sell them on their website now for those of you who don't live in the Chicagoland area.

How the heck are they popping off those tiny little caps with the rim mounted? I'm JB welding mine on now.... that or they're getting painted pink
 
I'm confused... I am guessing this only applies to like 1st gen cars which had the easy to pop off design?

On the 2nd gens and GTR wheels and such the center caps are really hard to get off without popping off the wheels...
 
Yup it's those big 1st gen caps. It's an on and off problem, and the minute they star disappearing off FXs they show up on line all over!!

Meh, I ran all winter without mine. Really completed my ragged "winter mode" look. :)
