Hi guys,

I just installed the stillen stage 2 supercharger and have do far been pretty impressed. I also added a mocal oil cooler to go with the alrady installed tranny cooler.

My question to all who have upgraded to stage 4..Is it neccessary to upgrade some of the internals when upgrading? Stillen told me it wasn't neccessary but I would rather ask fellow FXers who have done the upgrade..I don't want to blow the engine so what is NECCESSARY and what isn't when upgrading. Is it also neccessary to use their remapped black box when upgrading as I can get the fuel pump, injectors and smaller pullies here.

Kindly waitng for ur opinion and views.

Thanx alot.

BTW I live in Taiwan and have a 2006 FX35

This is what I upgraded when I had stage 4 = Nothing.

Ran fine and strong as is, not strong enough to need internals though. When running Stage4 use everything that is provided, upgraded injector, upgraded pump, pulley, ecu box.

You don't have to use their box, if you replace the pump, 6 injectors, and get a custom tune. But do not alter anything with the system without a proper tune, if tuning is not an option, leave the kit as is.

I opted not to go with their Box. I had to add a few extras. The reason I did it was because I was told if the Piggy-back ecu fails, so does the 7th injector. This will cause the engine to run lean and therefore, fail. Also, there is a chance that all the added Fuel via the 7th injector is inhaled by the first rear cylinders and the front ones run dry (I'm quoting rookie.)

All I had to do is to convince Stillen (took weeks) to just sell me the Pulley ($100). then I bought a set of injectors (380cc) and a walbro pump.

Make sure that you get a good tune. Like Jeff Said, if you can't get a good tune, DO NOT attempt to replace any parts. Go with the stock stage-4.

Further more, it is said that if you cannot afford to replace the engine, you shouldn't go FI. FI will cut the life of your engine in 1/2 (don't quote me on this. I've heard it elsewhere)

Once you get all this done. if you're interested, I'll tell you how to give it another 1-2 lbs. more boost. For that however, you'd need to go with larger injectors and the pump. You're looking to spend about $1500 on parts and about $1500 on labor on top of the cost of the Stage 2 kit.

Hi Bud,
Can you tell me if the fuel pump stillen supplies with the stage 4 upgrade is a walbro 255 and what are the brand of injectors they supply called.
Finally is there is really big difference from the stage 2?
Also were u satisfied with the performance with the stage 4 upgrade.
Kindly waiting 4 ur reply as I am thinking about the stage 4 upgrade and thabx for telling me that the internal are not needed to replace with the stage 4 as I wont be racing my car..only if some smart dude wants a little burn for fun.
Thanx my friend

I'm not sure if the questing was for me or fxlr8.

I used the walbro 255 pump, and replaced the stock injectors with Power Enterprise 510cc injectors. I was told that I should have used 380cc instead but they were not available at the time. The only issue with larger injectors is that when the car is warmed up, it will be slightly harder to start it up again. It might take a few more tries to turn it over.

Notice that the stage 4 only uses 1 additional injector which is placed in the blower and I think that is a 750cc and you get to keep everything else stock. I don't think you would need a walbro for that. The ECU which comes with the kit monitors the Air to Fuel ratio to turn the 7th injector on and off, and only comes on when it sense that the engine is running too lean.

In other words, the only difference between a stage 2 and 4 is:
1 smaller pulley
1 ECU Unit

That's should be it.

What I did was not technically Stage 4 that stillen supplies. I did my own thing.

Hi

Hi bud,

Thanx for the info..I thought when u upgrade to stage 4. Stillen provides 7 injectors, A larger fuel pump, a smaller pulley and an ECU upgrade..Thay told me around $920 for the stage 4 kit..Does that sound right?

Like u said the ECU upgraded box monitors air/fuel so would I need that if I have already installed the AEM
air/fuel gauge?

Do u think It would be better to change all the injectors, larger pump and a goog tune?

Kindly waiting 4 ur reply.

Thanx bud

Yes, when upgrading to stage 4 all the above is included. Check with Joe at infinitipartsusa.com for the stage 4 upgrade.....this is where I purchased mine.

Included w/s4
Pulley
Larger 7th Injector
Fuel Pump
Piggy Back ECU upgrade.

The supplied box monitors different parameters to relay the information to the ecu, adjusts timing, and also sends a signal to the 7th injector to spray under boost. The box is required unless you get a protune.

A protune will always be better no matter which car you are driving. Protune > Universal Tune.

Kindly waiting 4 ur reply.

I stand corrected.

Just curious, how much power can you expect to see with the stage 4?

I'm getting about 9.5 lbs. of boost (as of today) and ~345 WHP (technosquare dyno). Last dyno at Technosquare was about a month go with 8 lbs. of boos at 325.

Previous to that, I've dyno'd at Shawn Churches at 340 WHP.

Every dyno is different so figure about 300 -320

Stage 4 pulley puts out 8 lbs.
