Hi guys, thanks for putting together interest on the STILLEN Gen 3 Intake System. As Tony mentioned we're a go for development, and barring anything super weird, we'll go into production on these.

We'll bring in his FX and take a look at the intakes, as well as exhaust since it's here, and see about the STILLEN Supercharger as well. I'll do my best to keep you in the loop.

Thanks.

If another car is needed for testing and what nots I live in Irvine next to John Wayne so I can be of assistance too.

Well Tony has made arrangements to get the FX to STILLEN tomorrow, and we'll begin work. Hopefully things will move quick and only take minor adaptations to the piping on the intake and perform well.

Motortoylvr,

Assuming you're reading this, I need more posts before I can answer PM's, so I'll repeat your question and answer it here..

Motortoylvr asked about the FX50 and product development. We're definitely open to anything, but we just haven't seen the inquiries, both from Infiniti dealers and the owner community to warrant the huge R&D cost that goes into products like intake and exhaust.

We develop large jigs for both the cutting and welding aspects of intake tubes and exhaust systems, to ensure exacting standards on production pieces, to ensure perfect reproduction and fitment. These come with a huge cost, even over the R&D time to develop the system and test performance and sound until Steve Millen is personally satisfied.

Doing these in lower numbers would amplify the cost significantly, or we'd have to bank on the fact that the interest level is enough to replenish the R&D costs of doing these products correctly, and at the moment we haven't seen the desire from the FX50 community.

Wish I had a better answer..

FX50 fitment

Hey Josh! Thanks for the quick reply. You said exactly what I feared you'd say, but...it's still sad! There hasn't been a new post on the FX50 page for over a month...and that last one was me! So maybe your right...either Infiniti isn't selling enough 50's or, your average FX50 owner just doesn't care about modding! I'll keep beating the bushes and maybe we'll drum up enough interest someday! :-(

Good luck to you guys who own the 35!

Motortoylvr (I thought everybody who bought the 50 was one, too!)

Seems like a hell of a package, I haven't driven one, but tons of power, I'm sure additional power can be extracted.

Be interesting if they jumped to the existing 5.6L in the titan.. we do have a supercharger for that.. :O

my pops is gonna get a 50S soon ! so dont give up on the exhaust for the 50 lol

We're here.. if the interest level jumps.. we're on it.

And the success of the FX35 intake and potentially other products can't hurt!

Create a supercharger for the VK engine and you'll have a fan for life.......

oh you can think of it this way. us 35 are modding to make up for the fact that we don't have a 50 engine in our ride :tongue (2):.

don't think we will ever be as fast as a 50 unless we go turbo.

Got a little update on Twitter today from Stillen... I'll know more by Monday!

Stillen intake

Give us a heads up with the status of production when you know. I have been waiting for some more performance upgrade options for this vehicle. Good work Hollywood!

Hey guys,

Theres not very much good news on this one.. The guys from Stillen are gonna post an official update with the exact situation, but it's defiantly gonna be a little while before we see an intake for us 2nd gens.

Long story short, they have to do a complete new design from scratch to make it work. The existing G37/350Z set up isn't gonna fit. Sorry guys. They did their best in R&D (even working with my car for an extra day) to figure something out, but it's gonna be a little while now. They're kicking around a few ideas as to what they can do, that is most likely why they haven't posted an official announcement yet.

Back to the drawing boards my friends!

Unfortunately as Tony has mentioned the R&D is more than we were hoping for to move the Gen 3 Intakes over to the FX platform. The Gen 3 Intakes utilize some existing holes in the composite front core support, and in the case of some models takes slight enlarging of these holes to accommodate the intake piping.

With the FX35, these holes are not present, and the likelihood of someone wanting to create them for this isn't realistic. There is space in the engine bay to consider going a different direction with the longer tubes, which has shown to create the best horsepower out of the VQ engine, but that would take significant R&D and dyno testing to prove those gains.

With the original Gen 3's, we did over 55 variations of the intakes on the dyno, which enabled us to get the horsepower gains you've seen independently proven on the boards. Simply making a pipe and sticking a filter on the end is not how development happens. That being said, we're analyzing the costs that we estimate it would take to put these into production, and weighing that against the interest we've gotten from enthusiasts looking for these. I know 15-20 guys getting together sounds like a lot, but in order for us to keep the pricng down (remember this is basically TWO full cold-air intakes), we need to build these in volume, especially considering the expensive cutting and welding jigs that need to be developed to ensure perfect reproduction of these pieces.

Unfortunately its a similar story for the exhaust system. The front section is fine, but the rear would need to be completely different, and would need to be developed. Not a difficult R&D project, but again the jigs are expensive, and we'd have to be certain there is a market for exhausts.

The strut tower brace would also be a brand new part, there is no similarity to the previous gen's version, as the towers are much wider with the 2nd gen.

The AP Racing brakes do fit, and we were able to get those on Tony's FX without an issue, and hopefully he's enjoying those as we speak.

These items are not on the NO list for production from us, but we're looking at interest levels to ensure they make sense to move forward on.
