Stillen Hi-flow intake and Ztube Install

Got my intake and Ztube today and the install went OK I guess. I have 2 issues that i'm dealing with now.....

As part of the package I received a metal bracket that I couldn't figure out what it went to (along with the 4 screws). I bought it directly from Stillen. Has anyone encountered this part before? I searched for a DIY on here and infinitifx.org and couldn't find someone with similar issues. It also wasn't in the parts list or included for the hi-flow intake directions.... I'm thinking is for extra bracing or something.

My second issue is that I busted one of the suppoort clips thats holds on the power duct. I don't want to drive it with only one on and not so sure i want to remove it completely. Any thoughts on taking it out?

TIA
Rudi

I also received the mystery bracket with my Stillen intake kit. It now resides in my tool shed. No issues so far...

no worries about the support clip on the power duct. Im in the same boat as you and busted one of the clips during install, and have been driving it anyways with no problems

Use the search feature - this exact thread exists one or two more places.

Don't have to use the bracket, but can bend/cut it and use it wherever you want for a more custom fit.

They sell generic replacement plastic retainer clips at most autoparts stores. Just bring the old one with you and make sure you get the same diameter size. Pretty inexpensive. Also, sometimes dealerships will just GIVE you a couple retainers if you ask them. They might try to charge you a couple bucks. If so, just get the generic from the autoparts store.

I took off the power duct after cleaning the filter for the first time. Haven't used it since and zero issues. The heat shield is open on the front and bottom, so having an open window on the top shouldn't hurt anything.

It's held up pretty nicely with only one of the clips. I haven't taken it through downtown charlotte with all the pot holes so I'm inclined to remove if I can't get the clip from autozone.

Next mod will most likely be the plenum (sp) spacer or taillight replacement / upgrade / overlays. I put bluebatmobile overlays on my G35 and loved them. Don't worry I'll use the search feature on those before posting

Thanks everyone for their comments. Glad to be part of the Scene....

Hey guys,
I don't post much on here, but I hope someone can help me out with a concern. I just had my z-tube/high flow intake installed yesterday, and the tech told me that the z-tube is not a 100% good fit in terms of length, he had a minor concern of the tube falling out of the couplers. He said due to heat the tube could warm up and that could lead to it getting loose.Should I be worried about this??? They work with a lot of nissans/infiniti's and are very experienced. He said he yanked at it and everything and it seems pretty good, but it was just something to know just incase. I'm kind of worried as I am going on a road trip.

TONS of people run this intake and I've never heard of this happening before. It fits pretty well when installed correctly. Can you post a pic of yours?

I have no clue how to paste pictures on this thing, could I send them to you through email?

thanks.

I got pretty much the same setup with my LMS Z tube. Looks right to me too.

So I purchased a used intake from eBay for $80, i was about to install it but noticed that the back of the cone filter has what appears too be a few holes for screws. I don't see any screws in the box that I received I just don't want to go take the stock intake off to find out I missing parts.

Picsssssssssss.

These are the three pieces I received but now that I took a look at the box I noticed no bolts or screws were included. Now I have to purchase something to install it. View attachment 6243

I'm assuming you are looking at the bracket that joins the cone filter to the rest of the intake tubing. My JWT set up has four bolts that attach the bracket to the MAF coupling.

My filter comes off of the bracket by loosening the hose clamp.

You reuse the bolts from the OEM intake. The four holes in the back of the aluminum velocity stack (inside the filter) are where the OEM MAF sensor tube bolts on.

Is it an easy install? I looked up a instal and it talked about cutting off a piece off to install. I might just go downstairs and give it a try before going to the gym.
