Stillen CAI

Is there anyone out there that can possibly cross reference the cone filter on the stillen CAI ? I would like to pick up an extra filter to swap out when the other gets dirty. I believe it is a K&N filter.

i thought once you clean and oil it, you have to let it dry. My fear was getting oil on the MAF.

yeah man. You clean it, oil it, and let it dry. It's about 45 minutes, then you need to let it dry for a few hours. If oyu go out and buy the re-charger kit for the filters, it comes with instructions. You will just need to put a decent amount on, but not too much, because then it will screw with the MAF. i have cleaned mine twice and reoiled it twice and have not had a problem yet.

The MAF sensor/oil deal is not an issue with the FX. There are supposedly (never been proven) some cars in which the MAF sensor is so close to (or under) the filter that oil could be transferred, but the Stillen CAI on the FX isn't one of them. I don't even let mine dry after I oil it... Just apply the oil it until the filter is red, and then stop. You'll be fine. If you insist on the drying time it can be after you reinstall the filter, before you start the engine if that's more convenient.

To answer the original question, THIS is where you can find the same sized K&N cone filter.

Important part of this cross-reference is the open end diameter so any other filter you buy will fit on the Stillen "venturi ring".

As for oiling the old one - not a big deal. If you buy the K&N filter cleaning kit like jbaker suggested, it's pretty easy.

Just to clarify - you absolutely need to let the filter dry after cleaning it and before applying the oil. Once you apply the oil, there is no wait time.

The directions suggest that you oil the filter element and make sure there is no seeping or dripping (over-oil condition). If you put too much oil on, then it's much more likely that oil can be transferred to the MAF.

Cleaning the MAF isn't hard either - you just get a can of MAF cleaner and spray it. That's it. No wiping, dry time - or touching the MAF with anything other than the spray.

^oops! I guess my comment wasn't very clear. Yes to drying the filter BEFORE applying the oil. I was referring to the suggested "soaking in" time after oiling...
