Still searching... :(

So I introduced myself back at the end of February when I entered the market searching for a used FX35 (darnit! can't link to my other thread!!!) t=1477

I didn't really explain my full story. I was looking at giving up my 2004 G35 Coupe and my 1999 Dodge Dakota to get an '06+ FX35 (obviously w/ low miles)

My options were a bit limited for a while simply because I needed to sell at least one of the vehicles. I had attempted to trade in both at one point but that proved to be a waste of time.

So I finally sold my G35 a couple of weeks ago. I managed to get a decent amount for it so now I have some cash to work with.

Unfortunately, being in Rhode Island, the availability of used late model FX's are pretty slim so I have to resort to looking out of state. Not really a big deal as long as I don't have to drive too far...

I recently found an 07 FX35, Diamond Graphite, sport/tech w/ less than 15k miles at a dealership in Connecticut at a really great price! I was even willing to pay asking price provided that I got a decent amount for trading my pickup.
So I contacted their internet sales rep, made an appointment to see the FX yesterday afternoon, called that morning to make sure it's still there, took vacation time out of work for it...
After almost a 2-hour drive to get to the dealership, they politely tell me that it has been sold!
I think I was speechless for a good 5 mins.. I remember saying something (I wasn't rude) but I still cannot believe that it happened. It turns out that it was a lack of communication between their people.
At that point, all I could really do was turn around and go back home :frown:

This was the second attempt at buying an FX out of state. My first attempt (w/ the two trades) was with another dealership in Mass about 1 1/2 hrs away. They basically lowballed me on both trades and wouldn't budge from their asking price not to mention that they had more miles on the vehicle than what was advertised.

Why is this so difficult!? Granted, I am somewhat picky at what I am looking to get but seriously... I feel like I have bad karma or something.

Anyway, for anyone that actually read my rant all the way to the end, I applaud you! I get a bit long winded sometimes.

Man... that's crap. The '07 DG story is a sad one. Was that exactly what you were lookin for? Was it AWD or are you lookin for a RWD?

Oh and btw, here's your original thread:

AWD... definitely need it for New England winters!

I still can't believe that the truck was sold and they didn't even know it, or bother to double check when I called before leaving work...

I found an 07 Black, sport/tech w/ 17k miles in Long Island, NY but they pretty much won't budge on the price and it's a couple thousand outside my limit. :frown: Given my track record with out-of-state shopping, I'm not sure if I'd even risk the 3 1/2 hour drive (each way)

Part of me is hoping that dealers will pickup a few more 07's and 06's once the 09's hit the lots. I kind of don't mind waiting if I know I can hope for a good deal, but I already gave up my G35 at this point and my Dakota's AC is broken

You should be able to score a good deal when the new model comes in numbers. I would hold out just a bit. Fuel prices arnt coming down either, so it only makes our cars less desireable to the masses.
