My Audi S4 was total few months ago. I've been debating cars to buy.. Found a 03 FX45 for great deal to use during winter..

I got few stereo equipment from my Audi. I was wondering if anyone makes a double din kit for the car?

Like how the HVAC display is part of the radio display.......not sure if changing it without extensive modification is possible.

I have seen someone install a single DIN head unit underneath the control buttons where the analog clock is located

You would have to relocate the factory screen. Its been done, but no one makes a kit. And a double din doesnt fit perfectly in that space, you have to make mods.

Wow, looks really nice. You got me all stirred up to finish up with mine too. I have relocated the stock screen to the clock area, but has no motivation to replace the head unit. Which Android did you use?

Nice, that looks great.

I have been toying with doing something simillar. Relocating the stock screen down below, and then mounting a nice double din or tablet of some sort in the stock location.

How much work was needed to get the stock screen to go down below? did you need to extend any wires? or just undo some of the loom and manipulate it into that area?

I know for a fact on the 03 - 05, there is no need to extend the display screen wires. Had a hunch that it may be the case on the 06+ too.

^ that looks good! Did you do the work yourself or have someone custom make the panels?

Yes Sir! Every place I took it to in So. Cali wanted to charge big bucks because many said it couldn't be done or it was going to be really expensive so I did some research and practiced on some old honda parts before attempting to do it on my FX. I took the stock panels on mine because it is the sport model and pulled off the aluminum skin to expose the ABS plastic. There are some holes in the factory panels from the ABS casting process that needed to be filled in and then a lot of sanding to smooth the surface for the carbon fiber.

Looks great.. Only thing with me is the number of non functioning buttons after the install..

PMG
All buttons function including steering wheel controls for volume, phone, etc. Navigation and HVAC controls all work still. Only the stock radio doesn't work and that was by choice because the Android head unit has a built in AM/FM radio with an HD tuner so there was no need to keep the stock radio connected.

la_fx35 is right! the stock nav harness is plenty long so all you have to do is modify the clock panel and just relocate the harness down below.

Nice thanks for the info, looks like another item to add to the ever growing list of things I want to do.

Man that is clean the way you did that, thanks for the shots from the back, that will help immensely.
