Steering shake with spacer

My shake is gone as well, I removed the spacers and then put them on and it still shook even after balancing the tires twice. Finally I just went yesterday and did the roadforce balance and now the Shake is gone. Im amazed how good the roadforce balance is and I should have done that in the first place. From now and on even though the roadforce is more $, I'm sticking to it. :)

Good info Rip, glad to hear you have it straightened out.

The Road Force balance machine will pickup a lot more than your traditional balancer. In fact it will also tell you to rotate the tire on the wheel if its off balance too much or if a wheel is bent or damaged. The road force machine also detects side to side wobbling in addition to vertical vibrations. So the mechanic can know whether the weights should be on the inside, middle, or outside edge of the wheel. Doing this also eliminates the directional pull of the tire, in addition to eliminating vibration. The road force machine puts a roller on the tire with 750 pounds of force. Which is somewhat close to the weight that will actually be on the tire. It is considered a TRUE balance machine and will correct all vibrations 100%. It is precise and accurate in every way. The standard balance does not do this at all. Most places do not carry the road force machine because it is expensive and they roughly charge $80-90 for a balance which I thought was crazy but I was amazed how it eliminated my steering shake. If you are having steering shake/vibration the road force balance will correct it guaranteed.

I put my spacers back on and my shake is gone, dont know what happened but it works for me.

With the spacers and the farther out the wheels are any looseness in steering becomes amplified. This is why I had the steering shake at 60 to 70 mph range as well. I wasn't running spacers but my 22" wheel offset is +15 . I only had the shake with the +15 offset rims and not with the stock rims. Tightening the steering rack adjuster nut fixed the shake issue.

Over two years I went through having a wheel straightened,Road Force balance, Allignment and still the 50 to 60mph shake persisted. I thought it was my 22" rims because when I ran the stock wheels the shake was gone. But what was really happening was that as the wheel gets wider and the offset is further out any looseness in the steering system is amplified. I was so amazed at how easy this fix was after all this time. A lot of others took theirs into the dealer and they were not able to fix the shake issue. One of the best DIY's ever:tup:

nvm just read ur posts, 80-90 is pretty expensive

Ya that's exactly what I said when I heard that, but the mechanic guaranteed the shake would go away and I was amazed it did.

Just a heads up, in So Cal, Montclair Nissan has roadforce balancer and they charge $10/ea wheel.

just did this and the shake is gone!!!
thanks again...:rotfl:

I'm having this same issue...H&R Springs and 20mm Ichiba spacers...

I'm taking my FX in next week for 2 TSB's so I'll ask them to rotate my tires...if that doesn't fix I'll try the Roadbalance...if that doesn't fix it I guess I'll try tightening the steering wheel rack adjuster like MTN FX posted...

Def do the Roadforce and or tighten the steering rack and you should be good

Y
You have a 2012 FX50s, you should not touch your rack! You have a wheel related issue
