staggered wheels - They will mess up your tranny???

Can anyone confirm their staggerd set up and if they have had any drive train issues after going to a staggered set up?

I know lots of people are doing this but 2 local tire shops just advised strongly against it, said I'm looking for trouble with the tranny and AWD system on the FX if I go staggered.

Lastly, how important is it that the diameter of the tires on the FX AWD are EXACTLY the same? Is 1mm goona scew with the AWD and cause it to go crazy?

Thanks! Help is greatly needed and appreciated!

My nismo track wheels are staggered and have not really had any issues with the AWD system even when I did an autocross event. Everything held up fine. But, the AWD light did come on once while I was driving on the freeway and I had these wheels on for about a week. But upon restart of the engine the light was gone.

The AWD light is never on at the start. I pulled the AWD fuse for a lil while when I was having work done on the front axels. Every time I started the car, no light. XX number of miles later, AWD light... so I guess you just confirmed that the ECU will detect a difference in overall wheel diameter and give you an AWD fault code. :top:

But the funny thing is it never happened again. Just that one time. i think it needs some mileage before it detects anything...like a couple of hundred or so.
