Staggered GTR rims on 2nd gen awd

I'd think it wouldn't hurt your resale as you can't see it plus if a quality shop does the work they'll heat the paint with a heat gun so it bends and doesn't crack. No rust, smooth bends and a nice cut on the plastic. I'm pretty anal about mod work (like a lot of the other members on here =)) and it didn't bother me at all when I looked up in the well to check out their work.

My shop used the Eastwood roller unit that bolts directly to the hub. They have to do a small section at a time then heat in front of the area that they are rolling. Again as they are doing a smaller contact area it shouldn't take too long.

Thanks all! I'm sure I'm going to cop the gtr wheels now. Just need to decide on the color. Light gunmetal or the near black gunmetal of the 2010? Ummmmmmmmmm

So i've made my decision. Decided to went with the near black ones from 2010. Now just waiting for the money to clear and for it too be shipped out. Hopefully the custom won't give me too much trouble. Time to start shopping for tires and spacers. Any suggestion on tires?

So I will be going with 265/50R20 front and 295/45R20 on the rear. From my reason not many brands seem to make tires in this size. Is the Yokohamas any good?

my baby is going to get new shoes soon  anybody want my 18 inch stockers lol

I don't if your tire setup will make the AWD system complaining. 265 front and 295 rear are quite a bit of difference. I remember reading it on the forum somewhere that your front and rear tire width should not exceed certain percentage difference for AWD FX.

I have trouble visualizing offset and tire size. I got this number off of jbaker for his gtr rims and I just realize now that he is RWD lol.

Tire patch contact surface won't really matter unless you can break them loose. You running FI =) ? 265/50 295/45 are the same circumference, again that's what you need to watch with AWD. JBaker and I both have AWD and have that tire combination with no issues. With regards to tire choice, JB is running Parada's I am running Hankook Ventus rho6's, both are excellent tires and are highly rated for FX's.

thank you for the clarification. So tire setup is fine i take it.

I know its hard to really know how it fits without actually fitting it but do you guys think i can do away with the fender rolling until i need to lower it. My budget as of now is just barely enough for the tire+spacers+lugnuts and mounting/installation. My local shop charges 75$/per fender for rolling. The stock setup is pretty sunken in and has a huge gap, I'm hoping these would fit without rolling.

If when I finally get the whole setup on the fx and there is a little bit of rubbing, what would happen if i just let it rub until i have the money to get it rolled? I see people rolling around town with extreme offset and its obviously rubbing and they seem contend to just let it rub? Though all of them did not have the plastic trim, is letting it rub for a few weeks going to do any major harm?

Depending on the rub, you could score your new tires pretty badly

^This.
Whoever said 265/50 and 295/45 are way different couldn't be more wrong. They have the exact same OD.

Agreed. Its not so much the plastic that's the problem, it will just melt and ball up. If your tire were to rub flat against the metal well it would also be OK. In my case (before I rolled) the tire sidewall would get past the lip and rub against the burrs on the metal edge. In one day of very easy driving its sliced my upper sidewalls up nicely. Don't think you want to damage your new tires like mine were, Structurally they were fine so I just turned them around but it was still a PITA.

anybody have any experience with general UHP grabber summer performance SUV tires? they come out to 990$ cdn mounted and install reasonable pricing imo and save me the trip across borders.

Also for the spacers which one am I suppose to get? seems like there isn't any for 66.1 centerbore only 66.2, is it the same? Any online store suggestion/local stores in seattle WA area for the spacers? local shops in vancouver is quoting me around 220 cdn for the spacers... ridiculous price......

Just took a look at my wheel well the lining is felt. Does the first gen have the felt lining? Does this mean I might not have to roll?

Hi I'm new to this website. I just bought a 2009 Silver AWD FX35 and I'd like to get the GTR wheels for my vehicle.

This question is to three zero.

How did the fit come out? Did you have any rubbing? Any problems with running staggered wheels on an AWD? Did you need a spacer for the front and if so, what mm?

Its great to be a new member on this site. Great info!

Spacers on FX09+ with GTR wheels???

I wanted to follow up on this threat regarding GTR wheels on an 09+. I purchased a staggered set of 09 hyper grey wheels and have mounted them. They look great. Has anybody with GTR wheels on an 09+ put spacers on the front yet?

I think the FX looks great now, but I want to see what spacers on the front look like if anyone has any pics.

I have a couple pics of my FX with GTR wheels on "my garage".
