Squealing from drive belt??

Hey guys i just changed my drive belt and AC belt on my 2006 fx35 because every time I started the car it would make a loud squealing sound during first start up but after driving the car the sound would be gone if I tried to start it up again. Seems like the noise only occurs during initial start up. After switching out the belts the problem went away for about a week and then it came back. I read on forums that maybe the belts needed to be tighten...so that's what I did and the noise is still there. Any suggestions as to how I can get rid of the annoying noise. Also, I thought of spraying some belt conditioner but I know it's only a temporary fix.

Probably just needs to be tighter it's common to have to re tighten especially if you haven't checked actual tension with a gauge.
If you can get a tension gauge the manual says the belts should be 188-208lbs on the alternator and 106-126lbs on the a/c belt.

It was common practice to check tension after a few 100 miles. But no one ever does. Most get away with it no checking.

Like everyone said just tighten it up. All u need is a 12 and 14mm. But removal of belly pan might be required.

I had same issues just tightend mine and the squeel went away just make sure you tighten it and check it and repeat if necessary so you don't over tighten

Yeah, they need to be tighter than you'd think. I don't have a gauge or anything, so I just always check with deflection. It seems super tight at first, but I've always had to go back a few weeks later and tighten a little more. I guess they stretch a tiny bit during break in. I usually leave the belly pan off until I've finalized it since it takes longer to get the pan off than to tighten the belt. But it takes longer to get the pan off than to do most minor things in the engine bay.

I have been dealing with this as well, made a thread last week about it. So it may be the belts need to be tightened?

I just re-tightened last night after seeing this thread. They do actually have to be pretty tight for them not to squeal....I kept thinking it was tight enough but wasn't. So how often do you guys change your belts? I've had mine for 3 yrs now and no cracking yet but just wondering when everyone thinks is best?

I think 60k is where you're supposed to change them.

This guy is dead on the money. I just changed my belts as well and kept on tightening unit there was no squeal. However then I noticed that every time the electrical system was under load it would give a light chirp. Example if your back windows are ready up pull the switch to put them up and i would get the noise. Today I tightened the belt again and the noise is gone. These things really take a good bit of tightening.
