Wife and I have been doing sprint karting a few times.
see "CALSPEED" online located @ the fontana/AAA/California racetrack. check out Utube Calspeed/LA Karting etc.

This is not disneyland amusement park rides. it's NOT K1 kid stuff. It's a competition site; The track is pretty big. Speeds like 50mph so they say. (for rental karts, pvt karts can go > 70++).
Need skill to do the turns. (though kids can have a great time too) It is alot more thrilling than autocross. (This is where the major tournament/meets for the national karting meets compete. this is the LA Karting club site)
Club Karters are 5-7 y/o kids up to over 50 y/o . Alot for Formula I racers got started in this and even do this in offseason to keep skills up. (so it's no joke)

All equipment provided free, new and clean; give you a Helmet, head mit/balaclava (so no dealing with sweaty helmet), HANS/neck brace, a sparco suit, racing gloves and kart of course.

Let me know if any questions; I am not affiliated with them; we just want good people to associate and have a blast with. There are very few kart renters there so crowd is not a problem, it's mainly a karting club scene. Rentals run 95$ for 3x 15 min sessions then 25$/session after that.
If we get enough together, we can have our own pvt group run and date; you can set up pop tents for snacks, seats, etc. We've gotten to know the staff; really nice, I'll try to swing a deal.
(we're the only husband and wife karters there)
let me know, we'd love to have others out there. We can meet individual members there too.- Manta

Sorry no picts but U tube has some racing vids. My illiteracy prevents me from loading the links. check cal speed/ LA karting etc, it'll show the raceway grandstands.

I passed the first time and my wife did it. I was too scared seeing the competition karts blitzing around-speeds are insane in those. (puts the autocrossers to shame!)
But I've done it and it's the closest thing to racing. (and the cheapest) (can't even use a GTR at a track if you had one)
You really need racing skills, Think driving on the streets make you a good driver? forget it. It's a totally different ballgame for us amateurs.
The rental karts here seem to be faster than others we've looked at. It looks much faster than the 100 cc carts that I've seen run. I'll ask next time. i think it's brigs and stratton, and it's faster then the engines the club kids run.
