Sporadic roaring sound in rear wheels at low speeds

I'm experiencing a roaring sound in the rear wheels at low speeds. It's not constant, just every now & then. It drives fine on the highway. I just had the tires rotated this morning, but I'm still hearing that sound. Does anyone know what it may be?

I said rear "wheels", what I should have said was BACK RIGHT WHEEL. That is the only place I hear it, just that one wheel in particular. It's not constant, & it only happens at lower speeds. There is no pattern or specific speed that it starts or stops at. I've had 2 mechanics & 2 tire guys look at the wheels & tires, & even had them ride with me so they could hear the noise. They've all said it doesn't sound like a wheel bearing & none of them have ever heard that type of sound before. One of the tire guys suggested it could have something to do with the AWD system, but there aren't any warning lights coming on on the dash. I'm wanting to make sure it's not anything serious, especially before all the snow & ice starts.

If the mechanics ruled out the most obvious culprit a rear wheel bearing then maybe have them check brake components, parking brake, CV Axle.

1. Check axle, cj joints/boots for any tear or damage. Retorque axle nut as well
2. Hub or wheel bearing. Sometimes you would never actually have play or hear any sounds from a shot bearing.
3. Differential issue: Wont hurt to change the fluid. Might be running low on fluid

I noticed it when I had the tires changed which was about a week after I bought it. That's why I thought it was the tires but the sound didn't change after they rotated them. It's in the shop now. They're supposed to be giving it a thorough inspection.
