Spacers Q? ichiba 20/15mm (gen2)

Want to space wheels for a more appealing stance. Wanting to know if Ill have any issues with the stock studs poking too far out? panned to use something like the V2 ichiba's where i wont have to replace the studs.

20mm rear 15 on the front. anyone have any input?
 
What wheels? With most aftermarket wheels you're fine since there are pockets or the backpad just clears. Not sure with OEM wheels. Anything less than 25mm I believe the OEM studs will stick out a little. I have several and I know that on my 15's the stud sticks out but not on my 25 or 35.
 
Just check the back of your OEM wheels and the TSW's. If there are pockets on the backpad, then the stock lugs will clear and you can run 15mm spacers.

I'm currently running 20mm H&R spacers on my stock 18" wheels to accommodate my Akebono BBK.
 
Have 20mm rear and 15mm front and they fit like a champ on my stock 21" wheels.

Gonna install the same setup on my M56 tomorrow. This mod makes a major improvement in the way the cars look IMO.
 
Doesn't Ichiba have the design where the hub ring is separate from the spacer? I kept reading about issues with vibration due to the design. People were putting copper wire in there or something to shim it.

Yes, that's the issue Ichiba spacers have. Never heard any problems with H&R spacers, due to one piece design.

Someone used that on there but I can't find the thread about it. I am trying to mount my aftermarket wheels and I know I had some vibration on my OEM ones before, so I want to avoid this issue with these ones. I am unsure what wire gauge they used, I have 14 gauge stuck in my head but I can't find any proof of that. Anyone remember or can help me find that size?

The original problem was when using Ichiba V2 spacers with the removable hub insert on OEM wheels. The OEM wheel has an extremely deep hub chamfer. This means that there is very little for the spacer hub to seat onto. The centre insert on the V2 spacer is not deep enough when used on OEM wheels. To cure the problem, you would make up a crush washer out of #10 solid copper wire. When you have the spacer bolted down at 80 ft/lbs, remove the hub insert, preform your copper wire the diameter of your hub insert. Now place your new crush washer you just made inside the bore of the mounted spacer and then put your spacer hub insert back in the spacer. It's always a good idea to use anti-sieze on the hub insert. This will allow the hub insert to stick out a bit more. Reinstall your wheel and torque it to 80 ft/lbs.

With aftermarket wheels you usually don't have this problem because the aftermarket wheels hub chamfer is not as deep.

Perfect. I mounted my aftermarket wheels and I have slight vibration still. Passenger wouldn't notice but I do. But I don't think it's due to hub inserts being short, I think it's more due to spacer faces not being perfectly parallel to each other. I'm taking them off soon and skimming the back true to front.
