Somethings Wrong Help!

Wow, wow, wow that's all I got to say! They told me they needed to do a final test tomorrow, but most likely they told me they were going to order a new tranmishion :O I was like whatttt,... They told me it was $15,000.00 under warranty... Special order from japan 3weeks and they gave me an altima 4doors rental till my baby is fixed.. Man speechless
OMG :eek.: Really!!!!!!!!!
Hope that cures it, I still think it's an electrical problem from your mods, in the meantime think of the money you will save on gas with the Alti during the next 3 weeks. When you get her back, you can really celebrate.

I forgot to mention that if they replace the transmission, I'd just get rid of the car after that. After they replace that, it will never be the same like from the factory. Dealers cut corners when performing big tasks like that. They don't torque things down like they are spec'd to be, not put things back properly, etc etc. Basically they never listen to what the factory service manual says.

Aaron, if it is a transmission, I'm sure the install would be perfectly fine. I've changed out transmissions myself, both manual and auto and it should be no problem with them.
I would bet on it.

Transmission? Sounds like guess work.

And an Altima? Usually you should have a G37...why did they skimp out on you? I have always gotten a g for a loaner car.

yeah guys a new trani.... i don't know if its guess work or not but its there money and time.. so they should know! here in puerto rico they wont give you a infiniti for rental lol will give you nissan! i mean what ever man after they get my baby fixed im happy! im sure they will put the trani the way it goes they know im a very picky person when it comes to my car lol i dont even let them wash it :P

That's crazy. First, I'm surprised they are going with such a big replace considering you do have aftermarket parts on it...yeah I know the intake worked fine, but still. Second, if they isolated it to the trans, why wouldn't they open up the trans to inspect any issues? If there are no mechanical issues, then start at the trans chips? I mean why replace the whole dam thing for $15k unless like Aaron says it is guess work.

I had someone go through something very similar with their Hyundai SUV. They replaced parts in the engine galore, they replaced the whole trans, they replaced etc etc etc...my friend had a loaner for > 2 months...finally the car got sent to Hyundai research center and they replaced the ECU and everything was fine after that.

By the way, the whole thing started with his wife running the car without oil until the engine died. He filled it up with oil, got it going 20mph to the dealer and said this car is not working, not sure why lol

doood, you didn't even mention anything to check the inside of the dash with the aux wiring??? man, if they wind up putting a tranny in, and then after find the problem to really be something you caused???... sounds like trouble man, I'd at least mention to check there I think....

Dealer's have a HUGE habbit of guessing what something is the problem when they have reached a climax.

I remember when I changed my stock HID bulbs to aftermarket Morimoto bulbs and my AFS off light kept flashing on the dash because the system was seeing an error. I took it to the dealer to let them look at it. At first they didn't even know what I was talking about, nor did they even know what AFS (Adaptive Headlights) are . Service manager had to look at the factory service manual to find out what that system was lol. First they replaced the headlights thinking the motors that move them weren't working. They test drive it and the AFS off error light comes back on. Next they reprogram the AFS computer. They test drive it and the AFS off error light light comes back on. The dealer was stumbled on what the problem was for the longest. Next they said they would replace the AFS computer. They did and the AFS off error light again came back on.

Then I gave up all hope on what it was. Finally I brought it to my friend Igor (Headlight Master) at 180 Customs, he looked at it and found out the problem. The whole time it was the socket attached to the back of the bulb that was on backwards, thus keept the AFS actuator from piveting the headlight projector. Just a simple reinstall of the other way around fixed the problem.

A little off topic, but this is just a prime example of the dealer guessing when they hit a dead end.

^+!. This story gives me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. If they give it back to you with a brand new tranny under warranty, say thanks and LEAVE. Take it somewhere else to have your $200 wiring problem fixed.

+1 . if they find out it is your fault and they replaced transmission, they will Charge you

Transmission won't fail so fast. It most likely happen after your AUX modding. YOu did short something bro  Probably ECU is fried and working wrong.

+1 LOL :tongue (2):

If the ECU is fried from the AUX mod or damaged, I'm sure that is going to be minimum $1000, considering a plastic piece alone from infiniti can cost $100.

Either way, not sure exactly the best thing for him to do now....even if he takes the car after the new trans, the problem will still exist most likely.

I just checked up with Infiniti on a new ECU pricing, it's $950. Then add on another $200-$300 for installation and programming with Consult III

Been reading this topic since you posted. Hope they figure out the problem and you get your ride soon. I'm curious how they come to the conclusion that it's your transmission.
