Sold the FX

Well everyone, the time has finally come. I sold the 07' FX35 RWD. It was an absolutely wonderful car the two years I owned it.

I'll certainly miss the IS family, and thanks for all the help.

The details:

Purchase price two years ago with 21K mi: $28K
Sold Price with 45K mi: $23,300, sold the Weather Techs and Cargo Cover separate

I did not have any problems with the vehicle during ownership, and I think my cost per month was something like $240/mo to own. Really didn't depreciate much at all since I owned it.

I sold it because I wanted an AWD vehicle with better gas mileage (and regular fuel). With gas going nuts, I consider myself lucky as the last time I filled up the tank premium was $2.50/gal. I ended up with the 2011 Honda CR-V EX-L with Navi. Here's a shot:

I'll still hang out on the forum, because I love the FX. Thanks again for everything and the friendships.

Sorry to see it go, but yup...gas is killer right now. Good luck in your future decisions and hopefully we'll see you back at :iS: with your 2gen or 3gen.

congrats on the new suv (sort of). sometimes I wish I can get 20+mpg too

Yeah, the AWD CR-V is rated at 28MPG highway and 22MPG city. Doesn't hold a candle to the FX in the "fun to drive" segment though.

Congrats on the CRV, not the performance and handling of the FX, but a very dependable vehicle, and you can't go wrong with the Honda..

Haha I just stopped driving as much to save on gas. It's getting well into the $4 range here.

Glad we got to meet up that one time.

Its $3.67 here already. Good thing you have another dependable car that won't burn your wallet. Enjoy that ride.

Sorry to see you go man.....Petrol is pushing 4 in Seattle. Been making subtle hints to the woman of my dreams for a third ride, we'll see how that goes.

Been thinking NSX but the MPG isn't anything to brag about.....17 city/24 highway, not far from FX range. Going to have to come up with a new sales/marketing angle.....

Even with the high gas mileage, I wouldn't have sold an FX. Life is too short. Instead, for example I had to drive to Chicago, so we drove the Saturn that does around 35 mpg regular fuel. Basically can get from Detroit to Chicago plus some extra driving for about $40 of gas. Then getting back to the FX. I saw many 1st gen FXs this weekend and they all look great.....makes me just want to get back to mine! lol :)

well, apparently YOU have access to a 2nd car with better mpgs... the OP didn't.

$1.29/liter up here... again, that's LITER :tdown::tdown::tdown: And that's for 87

I didn't realize 2nd Gen FXs got better gas mileage than 1st Gen.

Ken said 2nd car not 2nd gen...

Oh lol! Yeah I know lots of friends that have a second beater high gas mileage type cars. Works out great for spending little on gas especially when u need to put on lots of miles and car doesn't cost much and allows you to still enjoy the car u like. Just something to consider. :)

Sorry to see your fx go dude. These gas prices are getting out of contol "again". The US GOV has tons of oil on reserve and they can't use it to give us hardworling people a break. This world is out of control.

I need a beater car thats good on gas. I was thinkin a used TSX. Little 4 banger.

Enjoy the new ride!

Although the manual says they recommend premium for best performance, the FX35 can run fine on 87 regular fuel. I've been doing that for the several months that I've had my 05 FX35 AWD (bought mine to use as a daily driver to/from work - 50+ miles a day roundtrip), and it runs just fine. I was averaging 16.7mpg on premium. I avg 16.8mpg on 87. There's a 40cent per gallon difference between regular and premium here where I live, and I don't use my FX for performance (got a sports car for that), so I don't mind running regular as long as I don't notice any negative driving effects, which I haven't.

My sister has a new CRV... Efficient and reliable, but not sexy like the FX. Doesn't have that signature exhaust growl either. But, hey, the FX doesn't get 28mpg. Hope you enjoy the Honda.
