SoCal Auto Detail

The fingernail scratches I have are basically the same as the previous poster's pics. Was thinking if it was possible to apply 3M protective film behind the door handles after the buffing. I'll set up an appt with you over in the next month. Thanks!

chris

Sounds good. I'll find out about installing the clear bra there, but you can definitely get some quotes on it too.

IvoRoyfx35 please PM me your info I would like to setup an appointment to have my FX35 detailed by you in Cerritos. Thanks in advance =)

Here's a Porsche Caymen after wash & clay. Swirls even on an 09, due to improper washing.

After the paint correction.

Nothing beats the sun in terms of light source to check if all swirls were removed.

i try to tell all these newbs or customers that think they know how to do things themselves that they want to buy a porter cable & think they will get the same results as i do with the rotary. lol. customers come into the shop reading crap off the internet & try to tell me how to do my job.
porter cable is a real piece of shit but some people use it for heavy corection then they do a writeup & claim 39 hours to get 1 car done lol. porter cable is good for spreading wax at a low speed. the flex orbital is a good machine, its stronger than the porter cable. i use the flex orbital sometimes for light jobs but never for heavy clear coat correction.

I think internet is a good source to learn how to do things. I'm sure there are alot of crap out there, but doing thorough research can land you in some very useful information. I wouldn't have learned how to change rotors, brakes, oil, etc. etc. on my car if it wasn't for internet forums like this. And you'd be surprised how much correction people can achieve with a DA polisher, such as a porter cable.

Rx-7

Just finished a detail last night. A beautiful beast, I would say.
I was very tight on time, so was only able to take a few pictures. Here's how the car came to me.

Yeah, there definitely are hack detailers out there. I don't hate them though, because they bring me customers...I'm sure you know what I mean. Hack detailers, bodyshops, and dealers who don't know how to use the buffer properly gives people like us business because we have to correct their work! Anyway, we had about 2 weeks of nice sunny weather, but I heard its going to rain tonight or tomorrow. I hope you get better weather soon, and yeah, you can borrow the caly sun whenever you like!

lol, no not bringing the rifle with me. It could be considered a paint gun... expect I don't think people would want a lead paint job =P. Never was really into firearms but after getting out of the military I felt I needed some firepower for home protection. Yeah, little overkill but it gets the job done

As far as buffing out swirls, scratches, and whatnot, are you able to remove what looks like a cut into the clearcoat? It literally looks like someone took a box cutter and took the tip of the blade and ran it across my back hatch about 4 inches long. It's a clean cut if you look at it from an angle you can see that it looks in my eyes that it wasn't down to the base.

I can remove anything that didn't run through the clear coat. How can you tell if it ran through? Visually, it's almost impossible. Try this. Run your fingernail across the scratch (perpendicular to the scratch). If the scratch "catches" your nail, most likely it ran through the clear coat.

If it did run through, buffing will only make it look about 10-20% better, because it will sort of round the edges of the scratch, if you know what I mean.

If it didn't run through, it can be removed 80-100% depending on how deep it is in the clear.

Detailed one of my favorite rides the other day. A Shelby, gt500.
With a few mods, this beast had 630 ponies.

Hard to see, but car was filled with light swirls.
