Snow tires vs All Season AT's

It's time to replace my winter 18" winter rim tires. I was planning on 265/60/18 Blizzak DM-V1's but I find myself rethinking this because even though we can get allot of snow up here the temp can be higher than most snow areas on warm day's being in a so cal mountain area. Between storms temp is around 70 and I make quite a few trips off the mountain during the winter months where the temps are in excess of 80. Tire wear on softer compound winter tire would be excessive in that heat range.
So I'm considering an all Season with the highest snow traction ratings and good wear ratings. The Yokohama Geolander AT-S 265/60/18 has a UTQG rating of 500 A A and 110 load and H speed rating.From all the comparisons and review ratings I could find it seems as though this tire would perform almost as well as a dedicated snow tire and with a 500 wear rating should last 4 or 5 times longer.
What do you guy's think?

I would go with good all season given your driving condition.

Another bonus is the price Blizzak's are around 190.00 ea and Yokohama's are 167.00 ea.

I had those Yokohamas on a pickup. Very good tire, even in deep snow. A little loud, but I think it's the better choice for you.

What kind of mileage were you able to get out of them?

I sold the truck before they wore out...but I got an easy 30,000 miles out of them and they were still 50% tread or so. But I didn't drive that little Tacoma like I do the FX....

i would recommend michelin latitude tour hp, or even latitude ice x.. but their pricey. My review for rainy conditions is 10/10, off road 10/10. But i never tryed them in snow (tour hp)

I'm going to have to replace my tires for the FX50 rims I use for the winter. Not sure if to go with all season or snow tires.

Dedicated snow tires are better in winter weather but because they are a softer compound don't last as long. I am going with an aggressive all season/all terrain tire because in between storms it can get warm here and the snow tires would wear out to quick.
The Yokohama Geolander AT-S has traction ratings that are almost as high as a dedicated snow tire but will last much longer.Im hoping to get at least 4 or 5 winters out of them.
