It's time to replace my winter 18" winter rim tires. I was planning on 265/60/18 Blizzak DM-V1's but I find myself rethinking this because even though we can get allot of snow up here the temp can be higher than most snow areas on warm day's being in a so cal mountain area. Between storms temp is around 70 and I make quite a few trips off the mountain during the winter months where the temps are in excess of 80. Tire wear on softer compound winter tire would be excessive in that heat range.
So I'm considering an all Season with the highest snow traction ratings and good wear ratings. The Yokohama Geolander AT-S 265/60/18 has a UTQG rating of 500 A A and 110 load and H speed rating. From all the comparisons and review ratings I could find it seems as though this tire would perform almost as well as a dedicated snow tire and with a 500 wear rating should last 4 or 5 times longer.
What do you guy's think?
