Sirius/XM sound quality

I did a small upgrade to the audio system in my car, amp, Cleansweep, change all speakers ( accept sub ) shortly after I recieved my car in 2009.

Sources OTHER than SAT radio sound great, with CD being the best. The XM or Sirius is by far the worst. There is one channel on there that sounds OK, it for some reason has higher bandwidth ( Watercolors )
My question is, was the reciever improved in later models ? Would a newer reciever module help ?

thanks

Usually SAT sounds worse than other inputs in cars that I've had it in from the factory + aftermarket... from a S550 to my FX. The SAT playback is quieter and sometimes sounds "hollow" compared to CD for example.

Maybe get a better SAT antennae?

I'd get rid of sat altogether and move to something like Spotify on your phone over bluetooth. Significantly better quality than sat will ever be. Sirius radio tops out at about 64kbps. Spotify and some of the better Internet radio top out at 356 and use better codecs.

In general XM/Sirius is crap to begin with. It will never sound good and considering the range of content you can get from good Internet radio services it makes XM/Sirius a waste of a subscription imo.

No Audio over Bluetooh in 2009 ;(

I kinda doubt it is reception quality .....as at least one channel has good range. Just crap signal coming down overall.
I Wonder if there is anything aftermarket better than our receivers. I will keep looking.
