Side View Mirror Problems 09+

You would need to pull down at the same time pushing in the direction of your arrow. The way you bent the screw driver limits your movement. Ideally you would go opposite the direction of your arrow, but that would put the pivot point on your paint. And yes, get as deep as you can in that hole :-)

Looks like a great and easy DIY, I will have to try this some time.
 
Okay, I finally got in there with an allen wrench. It turns out I was sticking the allen wrench too far into the rectangular hole. Anyway, I was only able to reach two of the three Phillips screws since the inner-most one is so close to the door. TBH, I really didn't try that hard to reach that one but probably could've managed with a universal joint or a proper right-angle screwdriver. Regardless, I swapped the two screws I could reach with hex-head socket bolts so they'd be easier to tighten. The two screws I did remove had Loc-tite on them so I doubt they were loose enough to cause the mirror vibration I'm seeing. I'll take the car for a drive post-fix and see if it made any difference.
