Should I get a 2006 FX35 or 2008 BMW 535i?

haha - you are asking an FX forum which car to get?!?!? Of course, the FX!!!

Totally different car than the BMW, each fun for their own reasons. I think most FX owners get them for the styling and utility. We like that it is a big car, but still sporty and fun to drive.

The cargo space is decent especially if you fold down the seats. I have fit a full keg of beer inside a trashcan, standing up in the back of my FX. We tailgate for the Texans, lol.

We also have kids and road-trip it a few hours away all the time.

Try that kind of thing in the beemer. Guessing it just won't be as comfortable.

There's obviously nothing wrong with it. It's just my personal preference, I don't know how else to explain it. If I had to elaborate I'd say it looks to me like a color that should be on some 80s sunglasses or a nascar. No offense to those who like it/own it; Just rubs me the wrong way.

test drive both cars and see which one you like more...thats what should decide for you

infiniti will definitely have less problems than bmw...and coming from an acura...you might want to stick with japanese...
 
Distinctly different animals.

FX is a nice crossover. It has a little of everything. However it will never handle as well as a 5 series, even one without the sport package.

Everyone always hears about the horror stories of BMW ownership. I have had an E28, E30, E36/8, E85, 3-E46s, and maybe something here or there I forgot. My mother has had an E30, 4-E46s, E39, and E92. We had problems with only 2 cars out of all of those, and the problem consisted of a faulty DSC DME in one and a faulty alarm in the other.

Want ultimate driving bliss go with the Bimmer. Want cheap services and about 8.5/10th the driving thrill of the BMW go with the Infiniti.
 
Research cost of ownership. IMO, a BMW that is well maintained can run forever. Well maintained is the issue. BMW has built such tight tolerances that once somethings is a little off, it will fail. I had a TL Type S. I bought it over a 540 because of cost of ownership. Repairs are very expensive with a Bimmer and unless you plan on doing them yourself. You will be much happier with the "simplicity" of the FX in comparison to that of the BMW even though the FX has plenty of luxury appointments and is fun to drive...and it sounds better too. I just went through this research

i understood the tech package to be intelligent cruise control, lane departure and nav
