has anyone here changed the shift knob to a shorter one or something? I've been looking around to find one that is smaller/shorter but i wonder how the shift boot is gonna fit back on the shift knob..does anyone know....

Only aftermarket shift knobs that will work with our FX is the momo automatic and the razo automatic. You can also try possibly switching a G35/G37 shift knob with the FX. Here is a link to a momo knob from one of our members. And I also have the momo knob on my FX with a +06 shifter plate.

I've tried this... unsuccessfully. I still have the shift knob though maybe I can give it another go. The button on the G35's shift knob is off to the left (driver's) side and the one on the FX is obviously towards the front... the mechanism inside doesn't work the same. It would take a bit of modifying on the inside (I haven't actually seen the parts on the inside) to make it work.

I did pop it on there though and if I push down on the top of it, I can get it to shift (not touching the button at all), but I thought that was cheap feeling because I'm pushing down on a shift knob that I'm supposed to be using the button for

Will the shift boot fit back onto the shift knob? Can you PLEASE post a pic of yours? PLEASE

I have installed My Momo to sitll all the way down. I had to adjust the hight to barely clear the Lock since you cannot turn the ignition to off it the lock is not engaged.

I assume that if you set the Knob high enough and use the Blue push rod, you'll still have room for the boot

If you use the original oem shifter knob then the +06 shifter plate and boot with fit fine on the 03-05 models. But aftermarket shifter knobs will not fit into the +06 shifter boot.

Here is a picture of my momo shifter knob with the +06 plate and boot. I modified the boot because I liked the bottom chrome piece of the knob to be visible and not hidden by the boot.

What exactly did you modify on the boot to fit this? I'll be doing the same in a few weeks from now, finally getting around to installing the shifter boot and that same MOMO knob. Thanks for the picture.

Edit: wait a minute... does the leather boot not even come up to the bottom of the shift knob chrome piece that you wanted exposed? What's with the thin shaft visible between the bottom of the shift knob and the leather boot? Shouldn't that be covered up?

Just inverted the boot half way and removed some of the stitching. Your right Cube the leather boot does not come up to the bottom of the chrome piece (purposely did it this way). There was no way to do it both ways with the limited movement of the shifter in the first place with this new plate. The leather boot piece just lays flat basically covering the vertical space for the stick shifter. Can't really see the stick when your driving.

Ah k... I'll play around with a few ideas and see which one I like best. It will be the '06 shift boot with the momo though that's for sure.

Hey buddy,
Maybe U can help. I really want the 06 chrome shifter panel for my 05 FX but infinitipartsusa is charging a whopping $137 to ship it to me in Taiwan..The part only cost around $48 bucks so what do they charge you to ship the shifter state to state. Does anyone else sell the chrome shifter panel as I really love the look of it but don't want to pay the huge shipping cost 4 a small part.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank-you

Wow that's a hefty shipping cost, but then again its international so you expect the high costs. As to how much they charge in the states I am not exactly sure but it would probably be no more then $20.00 at most.

Here is a pic taken a while back with my cell...

The leather boot has not been modified and the only change was installing the Momo shifter knob.

The boot is loose and doesn't attach to the shift knob...no problems.

I have an '08 with the same dash buttons, do they change the writing on the buttons when there's a nav package? and also the center wheel controller has extra lines

yes, they add such buttons as DEST, MAP, and ROUTE. the center knob has buttons so you can scroll through the map. I guess brick doesn't come with perforated seats?

iDon't have the nav package but it tricks so many ppl thinking i have one, most likely because of the navigation wheel which almost serves nothing without the navi

remove your wheel then, and try and use anything on that screen then.
I'm pretty sure i use the wheel equally between navi and everything else, if not less on the navi.
