Shaved off 10lbs per wheel!

(I hope this is not a re-post. I thought I just made this thread and it disappeared...)

Well, I thought I would share about the wheel tire combo I just installed after I pulled out the scale and started weighing everything.
My factory 21" Enkei wheels with Bridgstone (factory tires with 14k miles) ans no sensors weigh in at 81lbs!!! I heard the factory wheels/tires only weighed 74lbs. Pull out your scales...
I just installed some TSW forged Nurburgring 21x10.5 wheels and Pirelli 395/40 p-zero tires(new) and sensors. They weigh in at 71lbs!!!!
10lbs per wheel. The TSW website says they weigh 32.4 lbs each so the tire must weigh in at 38.5lbs ish.
The car felt much more agile, but I thought it might be the strut support I put in at the same time.

EDIT: Used my friends luggage scale and with Olympic weights, it is dead on.
My bathroom scale is clearly off a few pounds. The TSW with tires came in at 66.61lbs and the OEM21 with tires came in at 76.23.

Good news! I guess that means I'm under 200lbs since my scale was a little off...yay

Nice! TSW Nurburgring wheels are not forged, they are alloy wheels BTW

They're "rotary forged" so they get advertised as forged. Barrel is forged while the wheel is being spun cast. Better than normal casting, but not good as actual forging. It's what Forgestar does and they claim forged as well.

I agree with you that they're not really forged, but the advertising claims they are. Wheel starts off cast and then they take it and "forge" the barrel using rollers and heat. So the barrel is stronger but the face is the same strength as a regular cast wheel. More resistant to bending if you hit a pothole. I think they're much better than standard cast wheels, but as with all things, the marketing hype is a bit much.

The cost is pretty inexpensive for a production wheel that is light. As long as it holds air and doesn't break I'll be happy. lol
It looks like it loses the weight where(it counts) on the outer most rotational mass.

i am also running the 21 inch nuburgring by tsw with yokohamas. When compared to stock 18" the ride is night and day. i can attribute this to the lighter weight of the setup for sure. the handling is really tight, precise, and crisp. only downfall is that the oem shocks are not tuned to this kind of setup, which means pot holes and bumps are a pain, and you really gota slow down over it.

now i'm dreaming of a macan...:disapointed:

Mine came from the factory with 21" wheels. Not sure if there are different shocks.
