Set 1 and 2 for the driver seat

Hey guys

So the set 1 and 2 buttons in the FX aren't working correctly (read this as user error). I get 1 all setup with my settings and memorized to my key. Then my wife gets in and setups all of her stuff for 2 and then neither button works. I have read about setting the seat or steering wheel beyond the max setting and how it disables the buttons (and why would you be allowed to adjust beyond a max setting?). I find it hard to believe that this is always the issue, but perhaps it is.

Do any of you guys have tips / tricks for this? I find it frustrating, but want to understand the process and how it works, so that it always works.

I've had this issue since i bought the car, was way too lazy to ever find out... =) hopefully someone can chime in.
 
I never had any issues. When your wife is doing it, are you around with the key too maybe so it doesn't know if it should use key 1 or 2 since both are in the area?

Mine is set with no problems from the directions, but you already have the directions. If you are still having issues, I would have the dealer show you and/or check it out.
 
So I moved everything around and tried to reset number 2. When I hit the set button, the lights flashed. Then I hit 2 and it moved to my wife's position. Then I hit 1, back to mine. It was like it was off the entire time. It all works right now. But I am like 75% sure that when my wife goes to move it, it will fail again.
