Hello everybody,

Recently my FX has been throwing P1166 and P1167 which appears to effect one of the o2 sensors.

I am going to purchase a nissan replacement sensor and clear the code.

I just want to make sure before I do this - has anyone else experienced this and fixed it by replacing the sensor?

ALSO note that basically around the same time, it appears my muffler has gone bad and it's really loud now. I checked for exhaust leaks and it doesn't sound like there are any leaks anywhere. Is it possible my muffler going bad is making the car throw those codes?

TIA for replies!

Sudden increase in exhaust volume along with o2 codes sounds like something may have loosened up in the exhaust system. Have you had any recent work done involving the exhaust? Have you run over anything or backed into anything that may have cracked a weld in the piping somewhere? Just throwing out ideas...

my fx is bone stock.

i'll put it on some jack stands again and go underneath to see again if i can detect any leaks. last time i checked it was a quick look and listen as i was dressed up and going out. during the initial check the sound did only appear to be coming out of the muffler.

initially i thought ok, one of the gaskets is gone so that would make sense about the noise... but throwing the o2 sensor codes, that boggles me.

GUYS! thanks alot for the replies and suggestions!

i got a chance to crawl underneath the car today and found that the flanges both from muffler and mid pipe have rotted. i fricken HATE canadian winters!
