It can be bad gas. I normally would erase the code to reset the CES light the first time. If it comes back on again, then troubleshoot and replace the bad part.
What is the actual code? It may be your cat (although it's a relatively new car for a failure) or it may be an O2 sensor which can fail at this age. Don't just replace the cat without investigating further as it's expensive.
Sounds like a misfire to me... never had that issue with my FX50 but one of our jaguars we had did the same thing - was because my brother filled it with regular.
Try some injector cleaner or something with next fill-up. Try and get your hands on a code reader to get the exact code.
