Damn it, only around 43K miles on 03' FX35, and the thinner belt already has cracks......the bigger one still perfect! What the f.....any of you have this problem?

Is it easy to replace the belts?

Should not be hard at all to replace yourself. I see you're in Torrance, if you get the belts yourself from a dealer Technosquare can swap them out pretty quickly. My smaller belt had cracks in it before the larger belt did.

I still have the stock smaller belt on my car with over 40,000 miles.

Changing them is pretty easy but to change the smaller belt you have to take off the bigger belt.

hmm

Have you inspected your smaller belt yet? Mine has a lot of cracks, just a little worried. How many more miles do you have when it's showing a lot of cracks?

Took me 30 min to replace both belts. There are tensioners on each belt that allow you to loosen and slack the belt for removal and replacemnt.

I went with the Goodyear Gatorback belts from autozone. About $50 for both. These have softer feel to them and have sectioned grooves that make them extremely quiet.

Tip while you are at it: remove the whole tensioner pulleys and clean/re-grease them to keep them quiet for the next 60K miles.

hi, if you could shed more light on how you replaced the belts...

did you use some tool to measure tension after you were done?

if not, how did you know how much to tighten?

thanks in advance!

Here is a good thread for the instructions:

///1869

Also, the tensioner is automatic, so no need to measure

Thanks...

I still have a question on how much to tighten the four bolts.

Is there a torque range for bolts a and c?

Do you tighten bolts b and d until the belts "look" tight and let the auto tension mechanism handle the rest?

i went to autozone yesterday and the guy there argued with me that i only have one belt. i just walked out.

Good one! I would have done the same. He probably thought you was a regular car owner that didn't know anything about your vehicle. I hate when that happeneds.
