Searching a Turbo for my '08 FX35

Hello guys! My name is Nick and I own a '08 FX35. I'm really happy with my car, I like it SOOOO much because it's great)) I think nobody will argue with me about this fact)))

But some time ago I received a great opportunity to spend a day behind the wheel of MB SLS AMG. The car is perfect. And the car is really really fast!

After a day in the SLS I noticed that my FX is significantly slower =) (Really??)
So I decided to make some magic and help my baby gain some power.

At first, I came to my local Infiniti dealer who offered me some performance parts:
-Stillen Exhaust
-Stillen Cold Air Intake System
-Stillen Supercharger
-Custom ECU firmware

But before buying it all I decided to get some info from the web. So, what I found was not so bright and shiny... A lot of guys wrote that they had lots of problems with electronics after installing the exhaust.

There are also a lot of rumours about the air intake, cause some guys even had a power loss (!!!) on a warm engine after installing it.

Finishing with the Supercharger kit, when I was at the dealers shop manager agreed to show me a car with a SC installed - so what do you think? That car came day before because it's engine stalled.......
Even if we abstract away from this situation - I just didn't like the sound of a Supercharger... I only heard it on videos, but it seems to be not that good... A loud whistling noise for a car that I drive every day... That's not good...

About the ECU - I never found anything like a PowerCommander (I have one on my Honda CBR 1100XX) for my FX. The only thing I found is an offer of my aquaintance who told me that he's got friends who can programm my ECU theirselves! But when I found out how BAD it all works than... Some guys say that they have problems even with the wipers!!! Some of them used to have problems with the vehicles media and electronics... And a lot of people wrote that they want to change it all back to the standard!!!

After all that stuff I decided to stop my "tuning dreams" and go on working))
But then I heard some info about the turbo kits for FX's.
Idea made me crazy!
Why?
Because i like turbo's much more than S/C kits... The sound is right and the blow off valve and much and much more...
The main reason why - is that I don't need a 150 horsepower gain!
I will be happy to have some 50-60-70 more horsepower!
It will be enough for me for the first time!
And the turbo kit I heard about was exactly what I wanted!
It's a HKS turbocharger kit! As my friend told me - it's just the same turbo, but just driven with the belt - not the emissions.
And the horsepower gain is not critical for the engine - exactly 50 hp.

But then when I contacted HKS they told me that the chosen kit fits only 03-06 FX's... And my car is not listed due to the significant changes to an engine made by Infiniti after year 2006...

So now I came here and I really need your advice!

Guys, can you please offer me something to solve my problem?
Maybe somebody had already done it before?

The main idea is:
-Need to gain some additional hp avoiding any risk to an engine (of course I understand that any tuning is a risk... But let's try to make it as low as possible)
-Minimum gain needed - 30 hp
-Maximum gain needed - 80 hp
-Like turbo's instead of S/C kits, but you can persuade me)))

And I want to thank anybody who will call back on my issue!

Best regards,
Nick

HKS is incorrect about that. Also the Stillen intake is decent, per some independent dyno results. Actually, I currently own the Stillen kit that was tested.

StuLax18, are you sure about that? I mean the HKS kit will fit.??
If so, I'm going to order it! I can show you a message from HKS:

"We do not have plans for the later model application at this time.
The engine changes found after 2006 makes the supercharger completely incompatible without making a whole new kit."

This sounds badly =(

Anyway, if you're sure, I think I gotta visit my official Infiniti dealer and ask him about the engine!
I also think that it should be the same!

Rookie, thank you very much for your answer! Yes this is the exact kit. And yes, I'm not waiting for a huge gain of power at the first time!
I just wanna try if I like it!

Thank you!

Isnt the HKS a supercharger? Also look at the new Vortech systems if you are looking at Superchargers rather than Turbos.

As for turbo kits, I really believe the Jim Wolf Technologies TT kit is the absolute best bang for the buck - includes everything you need and has some decent history behind it. It is one of the only kits made for the FX. There are other kits from Greddy and HKS, but they are build for the 350Z platform and would require serious changes to be adapted to the FX.

Thanks everybody for their help and advice!

Finally decided to go on with the JWT Twin Turbo kit.
Manager from JWT told me that it is possible to tune the system so, that it won't be harmful for the engine. Horsepower gain is about 100 hp. It's more than enough for me!

The only problem to solve left is how to install it. As you all already guessed, I'm not from the U.S.
Now I'm trying to find a specialist who will agree to come over here with the system and help me install it. As I already told, it is almost impossible to find a company that will install the kit right, and it won't blow up the engine on the first 1/4 mile. Everything should be made with my own hands. I've got a nice garage, hope we will be able to make it there.

Already bought the GTSpec strut to be placed under the hood. Now searching for the 21' wheels...
Will keep in touch))

Thanks again!
Best regards to you all=)

Hi everybody.

Time to go on with my FX now.

About JWT TT - guys in JWT told me that their kit is completely incompatible with the AWD FX, as the transmission radiator doesn't let the intercooler set in place.
That's kind'a sad... But I'm thinking about HKS now. DR2K was quite right about the idea of gaining 100 hp. No need in two turbos at all.

If anyone fitted the HKS supercharger or some similar kits on the AWD model, please contact me here! I'm quite interested in the fitment issues.

About the HKS: some say it's a supercharger...but it's a turbo spinned by belt. I think it's more correct to call it a TurboCharger. Maybe...

So, guys who have FI AWD FX's - please help me =) Everything you know about FI is now needed and highly appreciated!

First issue - fitment
Second issue - awd transmission (will it withstand 400 hp???)
Third issue - at gearbox (will it withstand 400 hp too???)

And it's all for now as i suppose...

By the way, yesterday I ordered a set of FX50 front brake calipers and rotors with all the stuff included. This kit comes in 10 days.
So I'm going to fit huge FX50's rotors and 4-piston calipers to my FX35 (S50).
I'll make a special theme for it by the arrival!
I'm doing it because I think that before going FI I need to have better brakes first)))

Can't wait until it's all here =))

Thanks in advance to everybody!!!

:iS: rullllllessssss!!!
