I just changed the valve covers (they were leaking for a long time), plugs, coil packs and now the car will not idle on its own. It starts and almost immediately stalls and shuts off. It’s squeaking like a pig- super high pitched noise. I double checked all connectors and hoses etc and all looks good. My brother was driving and it ran out of gas right before I did the maintenance and the car was knocking after he ran out of gas- I put premium and the knock almost went away (before starting the maintenance). I have no clue what it could be- any help is greatly appreciated. The car is an 04 with 170k never had any issues and ran strong before this

Nothing comes to mind. I would tribble checks all connectors and vacuum hoses.

The only non-internal thing that would cause a loud squeal would be the pulleys at the front of the engine. See if you can isolate where the sound is coming from. The fuel pump could be an issue as well. It is cooled by fuel and running out of gas can cause the pump to overheat. As la_fx35 says, triple check all connectors, especially vacuum lines.
