Hi there. Replied to your PM earlier. Very sorry for missing it for so long.

For those wondering about the wiring interface to the head unit on the FX. All you need to do is get the service manual. It's available online. The wiring interfaces for the amp are very clearly listed.

Here's the good part.

The stock HU does output Line Level. You DO NOT need to pick up signal from the Bose Amp. You can pickup signal from the HU itself. I interfaced at the Bose amp in the back, picking up the line level signals where they entered the bose amp (ie tied into the wire before the connector). Then take the line level and run it to your amps/processor/whatever.

A few other things.

1. The HU line level is fairly low, so you will need to raise gains a bit to compensate.
2. Each speaker has a discrete wires if you chose to use these without rewiring (which is fine for most uses).
3. There are line level signals for front left, front right, rear left, rear right and center. There is no sub signal from the HU so you will need to split that using a processor or filtering on the amp itself.

Any more questions let me know. Again, sorry for letting the thread stagnate. I know how frustrating it can be knowing someone has done the work and has answers to the questions that seem to be hard to find out there.

I think I could, sure. If there was enough interest I could make quite a few.

Let me look into a couple things and get back to you and everyone with a price. Note that the sub enclosure would work as both a sub enclosure and a mounting platform for amps (as mine are). Depending on whether or not you want the amps visible, or the sub visible, would determine how tall to build your platform.

In any case the sub enclosure is one part of the equation the other would be the need for the false floor, unless you were planning to build that yourself.

Yeah, I'm thinking that might be a good little side business ;) I'd need to get my hands on a 1st gen though to build those, second gen is already set obviously :)

The big question would be what to build. Just the sub box? The false floor along with the circle pattern (which was my design I threw together for my own car)? Both? Lot's of questions!

I may even look into making a connector adapter for pulling signal off the bose amp, if it's viable (need to find out if a male and female connector are avail).
 
wow man, very nice build, this is what happens when you are really passionate about having exactly what you want and exactly how you want it and realizing that the only practical way to get it is to build it yourself. most would just settle, it's only the most passionate and dedicated and determined that would rip something out that they paid to have done and then redo it themselves the right way, big props man, well done
 
So, here's what I'm thinking ;)

A) The sub box is pretty straight forward. Sub enclosure designed to fit into the spare location with space for amps/processor/etc. Keep in mind space is limited, you probably won't fit a bunch of analog amps back there. It's not for display either, it's designed to fit under a false floor.
Cost around 300 + shipping (it's a wood + fiberglass build so not "super" simple.)

B) The entire false floor with cutout for the sub and PDX amp. No upholstery. Designed to fit right into your existing vehicle and all you'd have to do is cover and install your sub and amp. Price tbd. This would include:
Sub box (1.2 - 1.3 cu ft)
False floor (fits snugly where the existing false floor is)
False floor trim panel (2 pcs, one for base and one for custom cut designs if desired) for over sub and amps with subwoofer hole cut.

All of this would be CnC cut for nice clean edges and precise fit.

If you are interested let me know which option you would be interested in if they were available. Just doing some planning with my CnC guy to possibly make these available.
