rust on underbody

from scale of 1-10, how hard would taking off the muffler compare to like installing outer tie rod?fml, if its from the cracking and not dealer, dont know when ill have chance to install bbk, rims etc. inspecting the rust on my exhaust, its not as bad as i initially thought, way less on the exhaust itself, more on other part, metal, frame surrounding around it.

Its not hard if you can raise your car on jackstands and get one other person to help wiggle the muffler. If your a smaller guy like me you may be able to remove muffler without lifting the fx. Some wd40 and it should slide it right off the hangers. The hardest part is that the bolts holding it to the midpipe might be really rusted and may break when you remove the muffler.

if the bolts breaks on the muffler, are they replaceable without buying a new exhaust?

went over my muffler with the mechanic at dealer, looks like my muffler cracked off completely where it meets the midpipe.made appointment to wield it back together at local muffler shop for around $150.

You can always get replacement bolts but if your muffler cracked why not get a new and improved one for a few more bucks instead of welding the old one for about $150??? Dont see the logic in that, but its your money brother.

your better off spending alittle more and buying a new muffler. If you got a wife, then its an excellent opportunity to do so :P.

im spending lots on mods, dont wanna spend another 1k if i can get it fixed for cheap, unless i get it for $300 or so.Already saving for bbk, wheels, amps, better lighting, navtv, ipod etc.

I actually found on my FX35 that it was easier to remove the brackets that hold the rubber hangers than to try to slide the muffler around.

Yeah, rusted bolts can be a problem. If you snap one off, you can always drill out the broken stud and just use a normal bolt to hold things together.
