CA has their own blend of gas for emissions. That's why even when gas prices go down elsewhere theirs is still expensive.
Rough idle at start up in cold

I've always used premium gas and never had this problem but once. It happened on cold weather and I did not use the car for 2 weeks to try to preserve some mileage its racking up with commuting to work.
When I took the car out after 2 weeks rest, The car engine note was off sounding like it was on low gear running at higher speed. Then suddenly the CEL light lit. I drove the car moderately and the RPM seems to settle and the engine sound becomes less labored then the CEL just went out.
After regular driving that episode never returned and car drives normally.

Here's mine with 75k miles starting in -2*F. A little rough at first but smooths out quickly.
