Rotors and rust

Well, my first post and question ! Why do the FX rotors rust so quickly ? 3 days outside and the discs are covered ! My '73 Vette had no issues like this . I recently changed all rotors and pads with new ( aftermarket, better than oem ), and sure enough after only a few days they are an Autumn leaf brown/yellow . Is it the quality of metal nowadays ? Everything made in China ? I live in the same climate as Seattle and we get a lot of moisture , but this is crazy !

Actually that's normal, do a search to find discussions about this here on IS. It's not the quality of the metal, it's the type of metal. If your rotors look perfect after you drive your car, but rust in-between uses, there is no issue. Just the way they are.

it is only the rotors even the ones that are zinc coated. unfortunately you cannot zinc coat the surface are where the pads meet the rotor. other than that it is normal. just think of it like grinding and not putting any primer a few days you will see surface rust.
