Rotor questions

So I took my car into the dealership to get the 30K maintenance and inspection. They just called me and told me I need to replace my rear brake pads and they need to cut my rotors to pass inspection. They said it would be $310 to do this. Does this sound made up? Am I getting ripped off?

Resurfacing rotors during a brake job is routine and should be done.. The price the dealer gives you is usually more than local shops. If you can drive it and you know a smaller brakes shop then you have a choice to go there.

$310 is for the whole job right? not just resurfacing the rotors?

OT: I don't know if you have fading window trim, but you should have them do that under warranty while you are there. At least that will justify the brake job.

I had the same problem with my fronts last week and the stealership was going to charge me $385. I took it to local shop and got them done for $200. Could have done it for $125 but I went with a higher quality pad.

I'd either Get a second opinion, or why dont you look yourself & see how much pad you have left. Dealership sell brakes to everyone! whether you need it or not. It's up to you to guard your wallet.
