Roof-rail Crossbars? Yes or No?

Silver Crossbars? Yes or no?

It's probably a good bet that hell will freeze over first before I ever utilize the luggage rails on top of my FX. With that said, and nevermind the fact that they are listed at $300, do you guys think it's worth getting these? What do you think of the look? I can't help but think there's something missing on top of my car since you can see the joining screw holes on each side of the rails where these crossbars are suppose to go.
Give me some feedback please.

IMO i dont like the look of the crossbars but its your ride and if you like it then put them on. that being said even if i did like them i dont think 3 bills is worth the price for an extra 100 lbs. just put your back seats down and you should fit everything in the ride you would put on your roof.

I get confused when I see the terms rail AND cross bars... are they the same? Or cross bars the ones that go across attaching the rails (like for carrying bikes and stuff)?

if the question here is, if you should go rail-less... I say no, I like the rails even tho, I may never use them

I had them when I first got my FX. I never did use them so I removed them about 6 months later. They are just sitting in storage and I have yet to regret removing them. The holes don't bother me and you won't notice it after awhile.

No Ken they are not the same. Rails are what the cross bars attach to. Rails extend the length of the FX and the cross bras attach perpendicular to them. For example, a bike rack, ski rack, luggage rack will attach to the cross bars.

oh, okay... then NO, on the cross bars...

but on a side note... I saw a rail-less FX the other day, and didn't really cared for it (apology in advance to anyone that's gone rail-less). I thought it made it look like a station wagon... (just my 2cents)

Going rail-less is not for everyone, either look is good. individual preference, is what will make your FX have character and unique to you or others.

The roof rails are the best part of the car. I've seen base Muranos without rails and IMO they don't look very good. I also had to get the sports package because of the silver rails vs. black on non sports. Lame that I care about such trivial things I know.

If you are thinking of getting the cross bars for the sole reason to fill up the holes on the sides than a big NO is my advise. $300 for something as little as filling up holes like those does not make much sense to me. Plus it would look cleaner without. But if you were to use them all the time for Snowboards, bike racks etc. (things you might have problems fitting inside anyway) then it would be worth it.

Okay so 8 out of 11 of you are saying no on the crossbars. 9 if you count RideOrDie. (That's actually a lot for this forum ). Since I don't bike, boat, take long road trips, or strap 100 lbs or less midgets to my roof I'll chalk this idea up as a nay.

Speaking of the rails, does anybody know how to remove them for the "railless" look? I have seen pics of one on this website that looks great without the rails.

Thanks!

Where can you find a Post IN where this Is Specified and available To unInstall

Read between the LINES...

I actually really liked the cross bars but it was a bit difficult to clean the roof down with the bars on and I never used them so I just removed it.
