Alright ya'll, i've been talking about this for awhile and I'm pretty much committing myself to doing it this year.

The plan is to literally drive all of america with the FX. It is 100% gonna be a car guy type road trip, and besides the people I meet along the way, and catching up with some friends who have moved and scattered across the continent my intentions are to do this solo.

I just mapped a basic route stopping through a ton of big cities, and stops I want to make and I ended up with something like this:

12,000 odd kilometres. Not bad. I'm giving myself 1 month to do it. Most of that time spent from the time I get to Cali to the time I leave miami. The rest of the trip will be relatively fast tracked through the continent.

My intention is to leave sometime in march, and return sometime in april. The only major goal I have set for myself so far is that I would like to be in miami the 27-30 of march.

My question for everyone on here is about car shows, and meets. I'd like to attend as many as possible, but i'm having a tough time figuring out whats going to be available where so that I can plan and time my journey.

So I am enlisting the help of all you infinitiscene members to aware me on all the local shows, events, meets, anything car related in your area throughout march and april of 2015.

Also for the IS members who are interested in meeting up, let me know, I would love to catch up with anyone on here, grab a meal, i'd be happy to shoot pictures of anyones vehicles.

That's the other aspect of this, I am assembling a significant photography and cinematography arsenal to document the voyage, so those who want photoshoots, this is your chance i'm mobile, and travelling, also did I mention its free?

You will love it Meme, but you need more time.

Meme, I have done numerous trips similar in my FXs, I did across Canada with side trips over 6 weeks and accumulated 16,000 kms on that trip.
We did Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica Pier in Cali, and side trips of Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Parts of PCH. Do Route 66 for sure.
we also went to Canada's east coast 3 times in the FX.

We met folks from IS and other car groups along our trips.

We are going to California, Seatle, Vancouver, Calgary and numerous places in between next fall..
When we fly back from Mexico after our February stay there we are driving to the Keys for 3 or 4 weeks in March.

You're missing me by about 50 miles. It would be awesome if you went above the lake through toronto and saw Wayne too.

The route is rough at best. For example I fully intend on moving off that path and heading to dallas as well when I am in texas. So By all means don't think that this route is final or anything.

As much as I would love to head up and see the GTA members, timing is a consideration, and weather is as well, the reason why I am doing this at that time, is because places like cali, texas and miami will be really nice, whereas up north it will still be shitty. So I am going to maximize my time spent in the warmth.

I will be doing a trip out east in the fall for work, and although I will not be in the FX, I would happily go and meet up with the GTA members.

Let me know when you come through San Francisco. I'm down to meet up and grab a bite to eat with you. We can cruise through the city and take photos as well.

Shift over to the coast route between San Francisco and SoCal. Highway 1 is a must drive, but you'll likely add a day of travel for the proper experience.

I-5 also completely sucks between SF and LA. The concept of not sitting in the left lane is lost on most folk there.

The I-5 after Santa Clarita to Los Banos is very straight and boring. I have driven it many times and even watched a guy fall asleep driving, he drove about 50ft off the road woke up and went back on the freeway like nothing ever happened.

Yep. I drove I-5 from SF to LA last July. All can say is Boring.

That's why we have alternates out here. If you have time excursion to the 1. The Texas straight looks forever

I am in Charlotte and love FX's. Look me up and we can take pics or grab lunch. My wife is also a photographer and she would love some shots. The only event that you may hit in Charlotte is Cars and Coffee. Lots of cool Nissans and Infiniti's and its the first Saturday every month. Just let me know.

Definitely don't take I-5. It's probably the most boring highway I've driven on and I've driven through most of the Midwest. I thought those were bad until the I-5. It's straight, and there's nothing to see except for angry signs complaining about the gov't for their lack of water (lots of farms). You probably could put a stick in the steering wheel, a brick on the gas pedal and take a nap for 3 hours - it's that straight. Only reason to take the I-5 is if you were in a huge rush and that would defeat the purpose of your trip. Last year I drove down the coast from SF to LA to see family, incredibly beautiful drive, one of the most scenic routes I've been on. It took all day though with stops. On the way back to SF, I drove the I-5 because I was in a hurry. Exact opposite of the coastal route, you basically drive through the armpit of CA. Coastal route is slow since it's 2 lanes for a lot of it with lots of curves. I-5 you can do 100mph on long stretches of it.

On the east coast, maybe add some time and cut over closer to the coast and go through DC and NYC. Atlanta isn't bad (my hometown), Charlotte is kind of small. But it seems like it would be a waste to go all the way to the east coast and skip 2 of the biggest cities with actual history and culture. Atlanta and Charlotte could literally be any city in the US.
