The dam was riveted in place. IMAG0047.jpg IMAG0047.jpg IMAG0049.jpg IMAG0049.jpg I just grabbed my channel locks and it ripped the dam off. Then I ripped as much of the guides off as I could, then I filed the edges down.

This made a huge difference in torque. It's a genuine ram-air intake now. Didn't cost me a dime. Very happy.

Ordered a roll of heat-reflective tape to wrap the intake tube. The belly of the tube gets very hot as it sits atop the radiator. I aim to minimize heat soak of the intake tubing to minimize inlet air temp to prevent the ECU from retarding the timing.

I had great success with this technique on my old Porsche 928.

Discovering this air dam reminded me of what a Porsche Cayman owner told me. He said that Porsche deliberately added restrictions to intake air flow and other acts to de-tune the car simply to NOT have it outshine the flagship 911.

I'm starting to think Nissan deliberately de-tuned this FX45.
