My Headlights are beginning to show a bit of frosting/hazing on the very top of the lens. Anyone have success in cleaning-restoring the headlights? I see the restoration kits and have read that once you use these processes the lens will fog even worse than before. New assembly for $800 a pop won't happen till they go completely white.

Thanks,

MC

There's a lot of YouTube videos on that. I've never personally tried anything, but I would start with the cheapest suggestions like using a lint-free cloth along with a can of pop, toothpaste, etc. - start at a very corner to see how it works first. If all else fails then go for the professional polish and more expensive stuff.

Has anyone contacted the dealer for this issue? I have the same issue and car is still under warranty.

The damage is from the sun. It happens to most if not all cars these days. Plastic lenses. Get a kit that comes with a sealer. $20 and an hour or 2 later, you're good to go.

Ok thanks, I’m bringing it into the dealer for another issue with a bumper bracket, so I’m going to try to get them to take care of the headlights too haha

My 2015 is just starting to show the haze as well on the top, so I want to see if the dealership will do anything about it. Mine only has 35K on the odometer and I'm under the factory warranty still.

I have 31k miles so I’m still under the warranty as well. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m also going to ask about chipping on the grill. I have the sport model so the black chrome is chipping and regular chrome color is showing through. Looks kinda shitty.

If you're all thumbs, have the dealer do something if they're willing but if you're able, do it yourself. It's easy. Far less likely for something to get damaged and guess what, like the gent above said, the haze will come back unless they're sealed. I highly doubt the dealer's going to seal anything or replace the headlights but who knows. Guess you guys will find out.

Yea I just brought it in, they were not thrilled haha. When trying to purchase another QX70 sport from this dealer they claimed the headlights were a warranty thing. I’m going to try to hold them to that even though I wound up getting a better deal elsewhere (im in NJ, got my car in Florida) who knows if that was just a sales tactic or something they would only do for their CPO. They are replacing some light bulbs in the headlights that I have to tap to turn on at times so that’s a plus lol.

So they didn’t replace my headlights or offer to clean them. They didn’t want to touch them. They claim someone altered them with one of those stick on tiny things which damaged it. I’m going to try to get my original dealer to cover this cost since they didn’t disclose this stuff to me during the purchase. I know it’s a long shot but I’d rather not pay for someone else’s damage

Good Lord. Go to Walmart, pick up a 3M headlight restoration kit, seal afterwards and be done with it.
