Hey guys. I'm working on converting my foglights to HID's. I have everything. I got Morimoto 4300k bulbs and ballasts. I'm running into a problem getting the old bulb out of my fog light fixtures though. I am assuming I need to take out these two screws but they are close to impossible for me to remove. I've been trying for the past half hour. Is there away around them? ynatybu9.jpg

Oh Nevermind. I don't know how to close this thread but I'm just retarded. I figured it out. Little WD-40 to loosen up bulb and I twisted it right out haha

Yeah I have a habit of always thinking I'm going to break something that's why. I've gotta just stop being so delicate with these parts. Age really gets them tight. Now Im running into a problem fitting the new bulbs into the foglight housing.

The morimoto socket is bit thicker then normal. You may have file it down a little, but not too much; otherwise it will be too loose.

Yeah no I figured out what's wrong. They sent me the wrong set of bulbs. They sent me the same bulbs as the headlights instead of the foglight bulbs. I gotta exchange them now. I really didn't want to wait another week for shipping.

Did you get your bulbs and ballasts from theretrofitsource? I'm thinking about doing this as well but am afraid of waterproofing issues. I know some members have done it and was fine but I'm weary. Let me know how it turns out for you. Also, did you have to take your front bumper off to get to the fog light assembly?

I called them and they are sending me the H8 bulbs now so I'm assuming by Friday I will have them. Then I just need to send back the wrong sized bulbs for the fog lights and they will credit me the 15 dollar difference between the two. As for water proofing I am also working on how I wanna do it. I've made a few CAD drawings but I think I'm just gonna use some polyurethane pieces and silicone sealant to waterproof the ballasts. I mounted the ballasts to the wheel well:

As for taking off the bumper in the 1st gens it is basically required. I've read almost everywhere that the second gens don't need to remove the bumpers. It was easy/fun though removing the bumper.

You don't have to remove the bumper to remove the fog lights from the 1st gen
I never had to do it for fog light removal or fog light housing removal..

I may just have skinny fingers, idk lol

Yeah...skinny fingers would work best as I tried replacing passenger fog light assembly and the top bolt.. PITA.. I need to take my bumper off to do clear lens and headlamp housing paint anyway so I'll wait until then.

I installed HID fog lights not long ago and have had zero issues with water. I live in Canada and there's a lot of snow and slush and of course i've splashed around in the slush and warter and ballasts hve not been effected. Just letting you know

Okay well I finally got the H8 bulbs from The Retrofit Source but the bulbs don't fit.

I'm assuming these are H8 but they look nothing like my stock ones..
