Replace Fx Steering wheel with different model?

I would love to have that M3 as a daily driver... That red leather and silver exterior, love the combo. Sweet car you have there. SMG makes it useable in heavy traffic.

I think you can bolt on a universal one no problem -- except no steering wheel controls and airbag.... not really safe.

or you can just "upgrade" your current one to look a little nicer.

my 1995 BMW 740iL has illuminated steering wheel

My 2005 FX has no lights at the steering wheel, my wife's MURANO has a better steering wheel with illuminated controls, infinity sold us short when it came down to the steering wheel. :embarrassed:

Is the murano 2005 or earlier? My fx all lights on steering are illuminated but I have the 2nd Gen

They illuminated the steering wheel controls on first gen from 06. The buttons also changed a tiny bit, a little face lift.

I'm fairly sure it's possible without major hassle but the 2 questions are going to be if the splines line up correctly and then being able to sort out the wiring differences which there will most likely be.

how about a steering wheel from a 2010 fx 35 to go on the 2007 fx 35, will that work? i like the wheat looking steering wheel

Nice link Ed. I've been thinking about getting a custom steering wheel made. I will contact that site to see if they can make something like this for me. I just want the bottom part to be blunt and have aluminum on it to like the euro Audi RS models.

Hey Turbocad,

Have you looked at the plugs between the FX and the G/350z?

A little rewiring is no big deal, but finding the right plugs could be a total nightmare!

I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread. The leather on my wheel is falling apart, and I can have a billet steering wheel made for half the cost of having it recovered.
