Hello everyone!

I'm about to replace the spark plugs on my '05 FX35 for the second time (she's been good to me!). I'm wondering if there's any reason to replace the coils at the same time as the plugs?

The vehicle isn't throwing any error codes and I don't have any reason to think the coils are bad (had one replaced a few years ago). Should I worry about the coils? Is there any best-practice for this maintenance item I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance for your advice :)

If it's not broken, why bother. When it fail, it easy enough just unscrew a 10 mm bolt, move some wire, and unplug.

If you had to replace a coil in the past, you might want to look into upgrading / cleaning your grounds...

Agree. No code, no problem.
Oil in plug hole is usually the culprit of a failed coil.
Check to see if plugs are sitting in any oil. If yes, potential valve cover replacement job.

That's exactly why I had to replace one previously. Now I've got two new valve covers :)

Did you replace the valve covers yourself? I think I may have to do the same very soon. It seems I have a leak at the valve cover

What did you decide about the coils? Did you replace with aftermarket or stock coils?
